AlphaStruxure has an opportunity for an Investment Associate. The position can be based in our Boston, MA location or remote.

AlphaStruxure is a joint venture created by The Carlyle Group and Schneider Electric to deliver clean, resilient, and cost-effective energy systems - with zero capital expenditure by our client's organizations. The Company is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented individual with well-developed quantitative and financial modeling capabilities to support AlphaStruxure in its pursuit of new distributed energy, microgrid and Energy as a Service investment opportunities. The individual must thrive in a team that is highly analytical and values creativity, collaboration, perseverance, and strong communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to model complex businesses / assets and financing structures; demonstrate the resourcefulness required to gather and quickly analyze critical information; balance multiple tasks; and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This individual will be a key member of the AlphaStruxure team and central to the Company's success. They will interface with both Carlyle and Schneider on a regular basis.

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer of AlphaStruxure, specific responsibilities include but may not be limited to:


  • Building dynamic financial models which allow AlphaStruxure and its Board to thoroughly evaluate prospective distributed energy, microgrid and Energy as a Service investments
  • Working closely with the transaction team to determine the relevant transaction and financing structures for a given deal and incorporating those alternatives into the base operating model for each opportunity
  • Identifying sensitivities and performing financial analyses that allow AlphaStruxure and its shareholders to understand the financial implications of key risks and opportunities for a given transaction
  • Presenting analysis clearly and concisely, communicating results in a balanced and easy-to-follow manner
  • Supporting the transaction team in diligence activities, credit analysis and preparation of investment memoranda and presentations to senior management
  • Participating in tax equity negotiations
  • Consistently maintaining good attention to detail across all work product
  • Demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to assume additional responsibilities, as needed
  • Setting a positive, collaborative tone and fostering a collegial and ethical culture

This job might be for you if:


  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • B.S. in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or other related area of study
  • Exceptional analytical, financial modeling and valuation skills; project finance and structuring experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to think like an owner in all decision making
  • Knowledge of clean energy technology such as solar PV, CHP, battery storage, fuel cells, a plus
