Business Unit:

Position Summary:

Perform the first article, in-process, receiving, and final inspections of aircraft components, material, and manufactured parts. Inspect work of mechanics performing maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft components to ensure adherence to standards and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • First article, in process, receiving, and final inspections of aircraft components, material, and manufactured parts.
  • Complete First Article Inspections and Conformity Inspection Reports
  • Programming and operation of CMM (coordinate measuring machine) equipment, including software (preferred)
  • Reads and interprets component maintenance manuals, work orders, drawings, etc. to perform required duties.
  • Intelligently convey the results of inspections to shop supervision, engineers, and/or customer representatives.
  • Inspect aircraft parts using precision measuring instruments
  • Return to Service determination of Aircraft components
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Airframe and Powerplant License (preferred)
  • Previous Repairman's Certificate (preferred)
  • Trade School or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of AS9100/9110 Quality Management System (preferred)
Experience:


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procedures, practices, inspection methods, materials, tools, and equipment generally used in the work performed.
Qualifications:

  • Experience in the programming and operation of CMM (coordinate measuring machine) equipment, including software (preferred)
  • Proficient with a variety of hand measurement tools including height gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, etc.
  • Experience with GD&T, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft, Excel, Quality Management Systems, etc.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Proven team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and the demonstrated ability to be self-directed and effectively relate to all levels of the organization.

Work will be conducted mostly indoors in a "shop" type environment.

Exposure to heat or cold will mostly be limited to when walking from one building to another or if bay doors have been opened to allow for shipping and receiving activities. The use of PPE such as safety glasses and safety-toed shoes are required in designated working areas.
