Job Description:

Responsible for the preparation of complex tax returns and execution of complex projects related to the application of tax laws.

Executes complex projects related to the application of tax law.

Prepares complex tax returns.

Reviews basic tax returns and tax reconciliations and provides guidance to less-experienced tax staff.

Researches and interprets tax laws, analyzes and summarizes tax information, and makes recommendations to ensure compliance with tax regulations.

Prepares reports supporting positions taken on federal and state tax returns as well as federal and state tax provisions and provides recommendations to tax department leaders.

Supports tax audits by gathering data, addressing questions and resolving issues.

Coaches less-experienced tax staff.

Education, Licenses, Certifications


College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting required. Progress toward Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant or similar certification preferred.

Experience


Intermediate level of relevant professional work experience in the field of study required.

This position is a support role within the payroll tax team. Payroll tax experience is required (extensive knowledge of withholding and unemployment taxes). Data integrity and analytical aptitude is needed for the role.  Candidate must be able to:

Be a Senior level payroll tax professional (5 to 8 years of experience)

Work together as a team to ensure proper compliance.

Work on projects as assigned.

Participate in quarter-end and year-end reconciliations.

File quarterly internal manual returns for multiple legal entities (PRSDI, AL/KY Locals, MBT).

Have extensive experience in multi-state payroll tax research, payroll tax processing and compliance.

Have hands-on working knowledge of ADP Tax Filing (SmartCompliance) and SAP GlobalView, preparing wage and tax balance adjustments

Preparing Payroll Tax audit documentation as assigned.

Research Liens and offsets resolutions for federal and all states and local agencies.

Complete Daily Payroll tax funding and reconciliations.

Resolve tax notices with ADP as per your assigned states.

W2 Processing and W2c processing with corresponding Amendment in ADPSC.

Complete the validation and reconciliation of payroll tax processes.

Process Quarter-end and year-end audits and final validations.

Proven Canadian payroll Tax Experience –Identifying payroll tax errors, reviewing, and analyzing T-4/RL1

Register for withholding and unemployment accounts with state and local agencies.

Answer employees W4 requests and questions regarding their tax applications.

Respond to cases and tickets per established Service level agreements (SLA).

Respond to internal stakeholders with a customer focus mind.

Correct payroll North American payroll tax correction errors as needed.

Willing to work flexible work schedule to accommodate busy seasons (QE and YE)

Testing new W4/TD1 forms and other system tax updates.

Updating work instructions and procedures

Collaborate with payroll team and other stakeholders to resolve employees’ payroll tax corrections.
