We are seeking candidates for potential openings on 2nd and 3rd Shift. The responsibilities for this role will include a combination of the two following job functions. The exact job functions needed will be determined by the company based on skills and business need.

Job Summary

Furnace Operations: Input, monitor and modify computerized furnace programs as indicated by work instruction sheets. Following instructions provided obtains and prepares various types of source materials (powders) into pans along with activators to achieve desired results.


  • Load parts in an orderly manner ensuring walls of containers are clear, that parts are submerged properly into powder and placed so they do not touch one another.
  • Inspect parts to ensure they are properly masked and are uniform prior to submitting to process.
  • Depending upon process, workers may be required to remove masking solids from parts after process is completed. This process is called "Smutting" and involves the employee working at a manual blast cabinet to place each part into the cabinet and rotate while a fine grit is used to blast off the remaining masking material.
  • Prepare complete paperwork covering areas of responsibility (Loading Diagrams), ensure sample/test piece is properly placed within containers, and verifies accuracy of documentation submitted (checks part number, quantity and order number against material received).
  • Move filled boats to properly sized shoe box using designated rolling tables and lift devices. Attach thermocouples to each level as needed.
  • As processes are completed, operator will remove and inspect parts and place them back into cartons they were originally received.
  • Fill out all related paperwork, i.e., routers and/or internal records following PMS and A.I. Instructions.

  • Properly enter Cycle Ramp Rates, Soak Times and Cycle Times per Process Sheets. Monitor temperature level until proper temperature is reached. Fully understand all operations of furnaces to ensure minimal deviation from process and correct process is run.

Sandblasting: R esponsible for grit blasting parts used, largely, for small Jet engine components. This person will be responsible for the setup and operation of both manual and automatic grit blasting machines. Work requires the operator to perform a wide variety of sandblasting techniques and processes that: A) change from job to, B) techniques vary, depending upon the type and C) requires operator to work with a wide variety of grit materials without damaging parts. All training necessary to successfully perform this job will be provided by Howmet.

  • Review work instructions, stored electronically and written in English, for each job assignment to ensure compliance with product requirements.
  • Written instructions will include the type and size of grit to be used, appropriate PSI setting for equipment, proper setup of fixtures into automatic machines, blasting distance from parts to nozzle and any possible areas of restrictions, etc.
  • Operator will be required to perform various tasks including: inspection of parts to ensure proper masking, load parts into a variety of sandblasting machines, and assure proper/secure placement of parts into fixtures as may be required (depending upon process being used).
  • Continuously monitor the operation of nozzle (ensuring no blockage exists) and appropriate flow occurs.
  • Adjust machine or grit-flow as needed.
  • Perform work activities to obtain acceptable and uniform finishes at various processing stages (initial, in process and final). Depending upon the process being performed, may move parts within cabinet area in back and forth, side-to-side motions to remove unwanted finish and/or surface irregularities.
