    Education and Experience
    
    • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through a background in aquatics programming (swim team, lessons, safety training). Certification through the American Red Cross (ARC) as a Water Safety Instructor, or prior experience with a Learn To Swim program or swim team, youth athletic or skill coaching background is required.

    Knowledge & Skills
    
    
    
    • Requires an enjoyment of working with all ages in aquatics, children through adults.
      
      
    
    
    • Requires knowledge of class management skills, specifically with children.
      
      
    
    
    • Demonstrates the leadership, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) necessary to interact effectively with a diverse group of clients, staff, members and facility users in a professional, courteous, friendly and sincere manner.
      
      
    
    
    • Requires CPR/AED/First Aid certification or arrangements to be certified within the first three months of employment as an Learn To Swim instructor.

    Working Conditions
    
    
    
    • Works in an athletic club environment, in-water working with clients and students.
      
      
    
    
    • May be exposed to frequent interruptions, the potential of increased noise levels and some discomfort due to cool or warm temperatures.
      
      
    
    
    • Requires the ability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings and weekends.
