Job Description:

Your recent degree in Engineering (Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace) or Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics may qualify you for our New Professional Program—a Department of Navy Federal Civilian employment opportunity with the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD).  NAWCWD is an organization within the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) dedicated to maintaining a center of excellence in weapons development for the Department of the Navy.

NAWCWD is currently recruiting for the Navy civilian New Professional Program, a developmental program for entry level scientists and engineers. The New Professional Program provides an excellent developmental curriculum combining rotational assignments, formal classroom training, and on-the-job experiences applying technical knowledge to multiple Department of Defense programs.

 

Structured rotational assignments will provide new hires with the opportunity to accelerate applied learning and focus on science and engineering activities based on their background, skills, and interests. Opportunities to work with senior scientists and engineers will provide access to a tremendous reservoir of technical talent.

 

These Federal civilian employment opportunities will be located at Point Mugu and China Lake, CA, the primary locations of NAWCWD. An experienced and diverse workforce of over 6,000 civilian and military team members work at these two locations, with their multiple range and laboratory facilities, enabling NAWCWD to maintain centers of excellence in weapons development and electronic warfare for the Department of Navy. NAWCWD further enables industry and government teaming by providing government expertise and collaboration at all levels within original equipment manufacturers (OEM) for development and production, including organic completion of integration, testing, fielding and sustainment of systems.

 

Salary and Benefits

Salary is based upon your combination of education and experience.  A full range of Federal employment benefits is available. In addition, you may be eligible for a $5,000 recruitment incentive with a three-year employment commitment.

$63,708-141,064 Depending upon degree level (Bachelor’s Master’s etc) and length of experience.  This opportunity is a career ladder advancement opportunity, meaning that promotion to the next higher grade level occurs without competition, up to the full performance level (FPL) of the position.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics.

Master’s degree and/or years of experience may qualify for higher grade/salary.

Education must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
