Kean University, is located in Union, New Jersey (main campus), with additional locations in Toms River, New Jersey, Jefferson Township, New Jersey and Wenzhou, China. Kean is seeking applicants for an Undergraduate Regional Admissions Counselor who is responsible for building a market for Kean outside of New Jersey and for providing a full range of admission activities, including recruitment of, outreach to, and engagement of prospective students, with primary emphasis in Pennsylvania, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Reporting to the Director of Freshman Admissions, the Undergraduate Regional Admissions Counselor (Professional Services Specialist IV) is not New Jersey-based and ideally will reside in Philadelphia, Baltimore or the DMV metropolitan area. The Counselor performs basic professional functions using established policies, procedures, precedents and guidelines; and provides essential student support services and excellent customer service to prospective and current Kean University students and their families.
This is a twelve-month position that requires extensive travel, driving short and long distances and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. This position works remotely and will require travel to the New Jersey Kean campuses, in addition to multiple recruitment locations. The employee will be required to follow all COVID procedures and protocols set forth in the University's Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree; one year of professional experience in college or university admissions and/or student recruitment or in a related field working directly with admissions, student recruitment and/or retention initiatives; transportation for recruitment travel; and a valid driver's license is required. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Previous recruiter experience as a regional admissions counselor in an institution of higher education; Datatel Colleague and Slate experience; and residency in Philadelphia, Baltimore or the District of Columbia metropolitan region is preferred. Essential job functions include driving and the ability to lift, handle and transport recruitment materials and equipment over short and long distances. Traveling will require the ability to drive for short and extended periods of time. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
