What you will do

You will be responsible for mechanical analysis, detailed design, and control, as well as overall mechanical performance of HVAC equipment, including providing support to the production, laboratory, service, applications, and marketing teams located globally.  You will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with other engineers and manufacturing personnel to deliver market leading products.

How you will do it

• Use SolidWorks, AutoCAD and other software to create or modify models, drawings, and DXFs of HVAC units, components, parts and assemblies.




• Develop innovative designs and solutions for custom orders based on customer specific requirements.




• Accurately and quickly process customer orders by designing new components and bills of materials. 




• Take ownership of the design and part selection of multiple Johnson Controls products and become the subject matter expert in them.




• Execute design improvements to optimize manufacturability and increase product quality.




• Design and modify sheet metal and insulation parts and assemblies.




• Design and modify hydronic components including heat exchangers (aluminum fin, copper tube, steel casing) and piping packages (valves, y-strainers, flow control devices)




• Create assembly bill of materials containing sub parts, raw materials, and purchased components.




• Collaborate with production to build prototype and mockup products.




• Partner with the test lab to have prototypes tested for performance and reliability.




• Maintain and update submittal documents and engineering design guides.




• Initiate process improvements to reduce design time and increase organizational throughput.

What we look for

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related field




• Proficient with CAD software - SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred




• Knowledge of mechanical engineering theory, design, and application




• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products




• Ability to work cross-functionally




• Concise and clear written and oral communication skills




• Self-learner who can quickly learn to complete daily responsibilities and projects with minimal direction
