Hardware Design Engineer (FPGA)

This is an experienced engineer position contributing to FPGA design, embedded processor programming for test boards, component selection and analysis, circuit analysis, circuit modeling, development of methods to verify design correctness and debug design deficiencies. The engineer will work closely with other engineers to develop test platforms and medical products. The engineer is expected to work with minimal supervision, designing prototypes, new methods for analyzing circuits, data collection and analysis as well as mentoring peers and junior engineers. The engineer will advance their expertise in analog and digital circuits, embedded firmware design, test automation, FPGA and system design. The end products are primarily designs for medical devices requiring thorough documentation including formal design reviews, FMEAs, theory of operations and investigative reports.

Your Responsibilities


  • Participate with others to develop electrical circuits for medical products.
  • Develop FPGAs to investigate new algorithms, test new sensors, test logic structures and test vectors before implementation in custom ASICS.
  • Develop embedded processing code for test platforms, interfacing with outside manufacture's evaluation boards and internally generated breadboards.
  • Document the designs to the level required by various medical quality management standards and requirements.
  • Participate in cross team projects' development and reviews.
  • Develop various DSP functions including filters, detectors for different modulation schemes, noise cancellation and adaptive filter and controls.
  • Develop device and circuit models. (Spice, statistical, Matlab/Simulink)
  • Make measurements to verify device and circuit models using a wide range of test equipment.
  • Sustaining engineering support for operations for current designs
  • Participate in formal design reviews as both presenter and reviewer for reviews hosted by, and outside the group to ensure hardware and system requirements are met
  • Contribute to or responsible for FMEA, TSP, DRA, PRA, Component Spec, Schematics, and PCB documentation
  • Risk and design analysis to root cause
  • Provide concise, detailed documentation
  • Other duties as assigned by the group and project lead engineers

Your Profile

Qualifications:


  • EE or CE degree, Masters preferred
  • 5 years experience
  • 3 years FPGA design experience
  • Familiar with embedded programming
  • Matlab/Simulink/HIL experience is preferred
