Wood is currently seeking a Civil 3D Drafter with computer aided design (CAD) experience in 2D and 3D environmental remediation and civil design drafting using AutoCAD software for their Novi, Michigan office. The primary focus of the position will be to prepare construction and investigation drawings for groundwater, soil, and sediment remediation and investigation projects.
Responsibilities will include preparing technical drawings encompassing civil/structural engineering disciplines, performing volume calculations, and producing quantity tables under the direction of an engineer. Other work for the position may include mechanical and electrical engineering drawings, process and instrumentation drawings, and opportunities to work on design elements of a project.

Performs routine office assignments (technical and non-technical); receives instructions on objectives, complex features, and possible solutions; receives nominal supervision and review of work.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform routine tasks requiring thorough knowledge of CAD standards, practices and techniques to create designs and layouts for review and use by engineers, other technicians, scientists and clients and customers
Design or redesign complex layouts and drawings from general written or verbal specifications and communicate results to the project team in a timely fashion
Work with project team to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs and make corrections to the drawings as requested by the senior staff in a timely fashion
Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D on a routine basis
Self-check own work to ensure accuracy and completeness
Work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter, and be detail-oriented
Contribute in design reviews and improve job efficiencies
Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively under deadlines and budgets
Work in a team setting and other Amec Foster Wheeler Offices
Work safely, follow company safety standards, maintain permits and training certificates
Manage multiple CAD projects at one time
Basic/ Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Associates degree in drafting/CAD technology and 4 years' of CAD drafting experience, or 8 to 10 years' of CAD drafting experience
Ability to work with and take direction from Engineers, Geologists, Scientists, and Project Managers
Advanced AutoCAD skills
Ability to prepare design engineering drawings and management digital files associated with CAD
AutoCAD Civil3D knowledge and experience
Ability to read, comprehend, and prepare construction drawings
Knowledge and understanding of coordinate geometry and land surveying
Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings
Proficiency in CAD industry standard skills including starting a new drawing from a template, plotting, sheet sets, creating and modifying title blocks, managing layers, creating and utilizing tool palettes, working with external references, adhering to engineering scales and matching scales to known dimensions, controlling the appearance of text and dimensions, managing multiple viewports, and creating blocks.
Ability to work with and take direction from Architects, Engineers and Project Managers
Must be familiar with National CAD standards and implement them on projects
Excellent communication, both verbal and written and organizational abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Willingness to work outside normal business hours as required
Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Drafting/CAD knowledge of other disciplines is a plus, i.e. Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural
Experience with river restoration and sediment remediation design is a plus
Experience in GIS is a plus
Understanding of technical construction specifications is a plus
