Requisition ID: 53858 Title: Sr. Staff Accountant-SALT Division: Arthrex, Inc. (US01) Location: Naples, FL.

Main Objective:

Perform general accounting, reconciliation and auditing duties in conjunction with State and Local Taxation (SALT), GST, Medical Device Excise Tax (MDET), 1099, 1042-S, Withholding Taxes and Tangible Personal Property Tax (TPPT)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and reconcile GST, Sales and Use tax, Consumer's Use Tax and other returns


• TPPT reconciliation and filing


• Prepare and file business annual reports and license renewals for state and local taxes


• Research tax regulations on a state by state basis, to determine taxability of materials sold or purchased. Ensure correct coding is applied SAP/ERP and update tax mapping in Vertex systems, when applicable


• Maintain electronic historical archive of filed returns


• Audit AR and AP transactions, to validate tax results


• Prepare periodic sales, use, consumer's use and GST reports (monthly, quarterly, annually)


• Maintain taxing database: archiving data on a periodic basis and updating tax rules as applicable


• Collaborate in preparing responses to IRS, State and Local audit inquiries


• Review 1099, 1042-s and FACTA information work performed by others


• Reconcile backup withholding reports and ensure payments to the IRS are made timely


• Work on special accounting projects, to improve processes, reporting, and instructions


• Train new SALT employees and monitor performance


• Create training materials and host periodic training sessions (quarterly, semi-annually, annually) to help end users improve inputs to obtain best sales\consumer's use tax results, respond to questions and obtain feedback to improve processes pertaining to posting accounting documents

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in accounting required; MBA or CPA Certification is a plus


• 4 years of experience in the accounting field required


• Prior sales tax or AP experience preferred

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Strong Accounting Knowledge


• Good Organizational Skills


• Ability to work independently, as well as with a team


• Ability to effectively coordinate activities with other departments


• Ability to multi-task


• Strong computer skills in one or more areas such as SAP, Other ERP Software systems, Vertex O Series, Excel, Word, BW/BI

Machine, Tools, and/or Software Skills:

PC, Microsoft Office Suite 2007, online/intranet based corporate banking/treasury management software; enterprise based ERP systems with integrated sales/use tax compliance software, and fixed asset modules, office equipment. Preferred prior experience in QAD.NET, Vertex Sales/Use Tax Q Series, FAS, and Excel
