Job Description:

ERM is seeking a Principal Environmental Site Investigation/Remediation Consultant to join our Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation (LPMR) technical team in our Midwest Region. In this role, you will provide engineering, project management and technical assistance on site investigation, remediation, and environmental construction projects for clients locally, nationally and internationally.

As a Principal Engineer or Geologist you will contribute your leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base in the Midwest, while networking with ERM's global LPMR technical team and technology experts to share best practices across the industry. RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Oversee, manage and provide technical expertise on site investigation and remediation projects for a variety of clients with complex technical/regulatory issues in the chemical, manufacturing, and other industrial sectors.

  • Design and negotiate remedial solutions for contaminated soil, groundwater, vapor, and sediment, using innovative and emerging remedial treatment technologies as well as traditional systems.

  • Oversee multiple projects within client’s scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables across ERM’s LPMR service lines (e.g., Brownfields redevelopment, site investigation and remediation, liability evaluation and cost estimation, risk assessment, and site closure).

  • Assist clients in developing and implementing contaminated site management strategies.

  • Evaluate various remedial technologies for applicability at specific sites (e.g. feasibility screening).

  • Perform remediation design tasks including evaluating field data, performing calculations, estimating quantities and costs, and preparing design reports

  • Appropriately delegate project assignments to project teams and mentor junior staff.

  • Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business to grow the LPMR area in the Midwest and across the chemical and manufacturing sectors.

  • Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads. 

  • Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering or geology/hydrogeology.

  • 10+ years consulting experience working with significant industrial clients on complex site investigation/remediation and construction projects under a variety of state, federal, and international regulatory structures. 

  • Experience guiding a team through all steps of a remediation design project.

  • Experience preparing detailed technical and environmental reports.

  • Experience interacting with regulators and clients to facilitate project progress.

  • Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and “people” skills.

  • Up to date Health and Safety training (HAZWOPER 40 hour training and OSHA 30-hr Construction training)

  • Experience in transaction-related due diligence and liability evaluation for mergers, acquisitions and divestments will be considered an advantage.
