Job Description:

SUMMARY


The Supplier Quality Engineer supports activities of procuring materials needed to support manufacturing operation and supporting quality-oriented objectives established by Supply Chain and in conjunction with other departments. They are responsible for driving continuous improvement with our supplier community, improving supplier performance metrics, reducing TCO, and process development best practices. This requires good product and process knowledge, problem solving, and communication skills in an aerospace manufacturing environment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


* Ensure Supplier compliance to CIT specifications, requirements, and expectations.
* Improving supplier performance with key quality metrics, TCO and product capabilities
* Developing and driving process improvements to PFMEA, control plans and Key Characteristic Management
* Support of Receiving, In-process, and Final inspections and resolve issues with suppliers.
* Support Products qualification activity.
* Analyze and report of quality trends.
* Support and resolve quality notifications, SCARS, CAPA and RMA's with supplier and in conjunction with Purchasing.
* Lead teams to improve products and processes.
* Drive material review board and corrective actions.
* Ensure Supply Chain compliance to key Quality Management Systems including customer requirements.
* Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to sit, stand walk, and hear; use hands to type/write and arms to reach. The job will include some lifting, which would normally be around 5-10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds, depending on the situation. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


The Supplier Quality Engineer does not typically supervise people but could be asked to temporarily during organizational development. The SQT does supervise supplier quality performance.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Work is performed in a normal office environment within a manufacturing facility. The noise level is usually moderate. The job will require that you enter the production area, which you will need to maintain OSHA safety standards and comply with CIT safety requirements. Majority of time will be spent on the manufacturing floor.


TRAVEL


Travel requirements would be 10% to 20% and may fluctuate based on business issues and supplier performance levels. Almost all travel would be within the USA, with very little international travel at this time. Primary travel requirements would be associated with supporting supplier development including process improvements, audits, supplier relationship meetings, kaizen events, etc.


QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


* Associates degree from accredited institution or 5+ years of relevant experience in quality or manufacturing.
* Use of improvement tools such as six sigma and lean manufacturing.
* Strong cross functional communication skills and ability to drive results.
* Experience in an electrical manufacturing environment preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read, write and documents in English, using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling and to communicate effectively over the telephone as well as face-to-face using proper grammar. Additionally, one must be able to understand the scope of a collection of procedures and how they relate to the internal methods in practice in all operations. Clarity of communication is required to the level of teacher since the SQE will develop and present training on the aspects of the quality system.


SCIENTIFIC SKILLS


Familiarity with scientific terms and units of measure related to chemical and electrical entities is needed to assist with material and product analysis and testing development. Clear presentation of mathematical solutions must be possible.


JOB SKILLS


* Use of basic office software tools including Microsoft Office.
* Basic understanding of database applications and potential solutions.
* Ability to plan and complete a variety of project types.
* Capability to plan and manage a personal schedule.
* SAP experience preferred.
