This opening is for Engineering Manager - Electrical Integration, Mechanical Technology CEO. This role will lead a team of engineers with electrical integration, 3D harnesses, Wiring & Schematics & Cable and conduit packaging domains. The purpose of this role is to provide Electrical Integration Leadership to deliver new locomotives and loco systems upgrades. This role has the responsibility to work collaboratively & strategically with globally diverse stakeholders to deliver best in class Electrical Integration configuration meeting business objectives and customer requirement. The leader in this role is also responsible for shaping the technology & processes, leverage standardization, modularization
Essential responsibilities:
The Electrical Integration Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy in wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and conduit assemblies.
Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned program tasks and personnel
Provide support council and recommendations to section management
Establish work group goals within framework of section technical and financial objectives
Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs
Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within work group
Communicate with management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues
Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel
Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning
Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling
Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within work group
Work in strong partnership with the Engineering Systems Engineering Groups, Product Management, Sourcing, Manufacturing and Quality to develop strategies for the global Electrical Devices and Electronics Architecture
Engage with the electronics hardware development team on specified projects, along with coordination of locomotive system integration of Arcnet, Ethernet, antenna design, radio systems, and EMI/EMC methods.
Lead team in the development of connectors and connector systems including metallurgy, reliability, durability, and DFM/DFR
Lead competitive benchmarking for Communication and electrical integration and develop plans to address the gaps
Work closely with Sourcing and Supply Chain teams to ensure strategic partner selection,
Provide factory support and feedback, and contribute to lean manufacturing development
Identify resource requirements and investment to support engineering planning process
Develop a strong team with technical expertise in functional areas
Be a change agent to drive faster adaptation of next gen technologies, tools & processes
Drive a culture of excellence in technology development, compliance, and integrity
Drive the team focus of sustainability and documentation/simplification
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Industrial Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical integration, harness development, or electrical engineering.
At least 5 additional years of experience in a program or project leadership role within an engineering environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
Ability to work in a cross-functional, global teams, demonstrated drive & leadership
Demonstrated experience in influencing at all levels of the organization and customer relationship skill
Desired Characteristics
10+ years of progressive engineering experience preferably in locomotive design & application
Experience with locomotive wiring, connectors, communication HW, racks and assemblies -thermal / mechanical and EMC / EMI, design and simulation, and/or connector systems
Working knowledge of new product development & reliability processes
Working knowledge of NPI, DFSS, and DFR Strong managerial and communication skills
Previous electronics and devices factory support and / or product development and production implementation
Familiarity with the electrical devices and electronics architecture landscape and competitive assessment of competing technologies
Demonstrated experience managing electronics and device endurance, HALT, robustness, testing and field service, operability, and maintenance
Effective team building and project management ability
Strong analytical, computer, and organizational skills
