Position Highlights

Work location: Southwestern Health Resources Headquarters, 1603 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, Farmers Branch, TX 75234.

Work environment: Network Business Development.

Please note: The Physician Network Development Specialist will be an employee of Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR). SWHR is a clinically integrated network formed by Texas Health Resources and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Work hours:


  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Travel: 70% local travel between physician's offices required.
  • May require in-person attendance as needed, to department meetings, trainings and/or other department authorized activities, at the above-mentioned address or other locations as directed by the department management.
Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR) is a patient-centered clinically integrated network of 29 hospital locations and more than 5,500 physicians and other clinicians. Formed by Texas Health Resources and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, two of the region's leading healthcare systems, SWHR delivers nationally preeminent, highest-quality care in 16 counties across North Texas.

The SWHR Network includes physicians from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Health Resources, as well as more than 2500 independent community Primary and Specialty Care Physicians. In partnership, our team implements physician-driven, value-based care strategies to coordinate care for more than 700,000 patients, across 16 counties in North Texas, resulting in lower costs and high-quality care.

In 2020, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the annual financial and quality results. Based on the report, SWHR is one of the nation's leading Next Generation Accountable Care Organizations (ACO), having saved nearly $120 million since joining the program in 2017.

SWHR is the parent organization of Care N' Care Insurance Co., a leading regional Medicare Advantage health plan organization that serves approximately 17,000 patients in North Texas.

Education


  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Business, or related field required.
  • Master's Degree in Healthcare, Business, or related field preferred.
Experience

  • Require 4 years of experience, to include 3 years experience in Healthcare Sales and/or Business development.
  • Progressive experience in a multi-site healthcare organization strongly preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) and/or Value-Based Healthcare organization functions preferred.

Position Responsibilities

The Physician Network Development Specialist manages a book of business intended to grow the number of primary care physicians in Southwestern Health Resources. A firm understanding of recruitment, negotiations, consulting, analysis, sales, organization, contracting, and strategy will be necessary for the Specialist to be successful. This position will report to the Director, Network Development and will work together with a team of other Specialists.

Position Functions

  • Meet required performance metrics designed to drive network performance.
  • Market, recruit, and sale to physicians and other stakeholders regarding the SWHR value proposition.
  • Market and sale SWHR within the marketplace to improve brand penetration.
  • Identify and prospect community primary care physicians and groups.
  • Thoroughly document in CRM, daily, regarding all interactions with physicians and stakeholders.
  • Analyze physicians' practice current condition including but not limited to financial, technological, legal, and operational processes.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with team members and Director regarding situations encountered and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date on healthcare trends that affect primary care physicians and the industry as a whole.
  • Conduct oneself in a way that reflects positively on SWHR.
  • Meet with physicians and stakeholders in person, telephonically, or virtually, as needed, to gain a commitment.
  • Perform market research to determine network compatibility of physicians and groups. Identify objections and hurdles apparent in the future membership of the physician or group and overcome them.
  • Successfully gain access to decision makers.
  • Successfully gain detailed information regarding practice setup, history, and plans for future practice.
  • Advise physician of contractual obligations as a member.
  • Successfully contract with physician or group regarding membership agreements, enrollment documents, and technological necessities.
  • Communicate confidence in the long-term benefits the physicians and stakeholders will experience as a member of SWHR.
  • Advise physicians and stakeholders of improvements they will experience as members of SWHR.
  • Consult physician and stakeholders regarding best practices for their unique practice.
  • Ensure accurate information regarding the physician practice is communicated to Payors and ACO programs.
  • Liaise communications with departments within SWHR.
  • Understand the complexities of Payor processes.
  • Update CRM account and contact data as needed.
  • Advise physician through credentialing process to reduce the time it takes to get them credentialed.
  • Assist physicians that have never practiced before to set up their practice in a way that is conducive to their long-term success.
  • Other duties as assigned.
