Position Summary



As part of the ITT Corporate Financial Resources Center, the Accountant is responsible for providing effective, efficient and accurate financial transactions for all units serviced by the Accounting team. A successful candidate will have excellent communication, problem solving, and team building skills. This person will be a self-starter who is highly motivated with an ability to multi-task while ensuring the accuracy of each transaction. This person will also be a quick learner who can focus on the transactional process while working independently.


We are seeking a highly motivated Accountant to work in our Seneca Falls location. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in corporate accounting with tax return preparation and research. Sales and Use Tax law and process knowledge is required. Experience in preparation and analysis of financial statements: Ops plan, budget, forecast and actuals is required.

Essential Responsibilities

• Supports the Sales & Use tax process by working with the business units to ensure compliance and understand tax regulations
• Analyzes transactions, prepares financial, and tax reports.
• Develops and maintains tax accounting processes and procedures
• Primary responsibility for the management of financial results in accordance with GAAP. This includes recommending financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
• Responsible for or assists with monthly financial analysis, OPPLAN, Budgeting, and Forecasting cycles.
• Perform monthly tax reconciliation of sales and use tax transaction data, review journal entries and accounting transactions to support liabilities for timely compliance reporting
• Supporting daily operations by having the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Resolve complex problems with minimal oversight
• Analyze details and interpret data while bringing resolution to system and accounting issues quickly
• Lead with confidence and be well versed in reviewing reports prepared by others and provide constructive feedback
• Implement ongoing improvements/enhancements to applications and processes and the related accounting, utilizing database development and lean concepts.

• BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or related field is required. MBA in related field is preferred. CPA is preferred
• Sales and Use Tax law and process knowledge is required
• Preparation and analysis of financial statements: Ops plan, budget, forecast and actuals
• Ability to perform analysis on processes, projects, actions etc. to address issues, and achieve problem resolution end to end on large scale projects and day to day actions within the accounting function
• Must be able to drill down to understand root cause of issues and work cross functionally with internal and external partners to resolve issues
• ERP experience required, SAP preferred
• Experience with month end close including requirements around reporting deadlines and accuracy are required
• Experience working with GAAP and other general compliance standards and controls
• SOX exposure is a plus, however not required
