We are hiring immediately for a Part-Time (50%FTE), Bilingual (English/Spanish) Research Assistant to join the UTHealth- School of Public Health and collaborate with the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research. In this position, you would assist in the day-to-day research activities of a randomized community trial to test the efficacy of a COVID risk reduction program for Latino day laborers by conducting literature reviews, preparing and translating surveys and other program materials, and participating in field research activities.

Position Summary:

This half-time (50% FTE) position will assist in the day-to-day research activities of a randomized community trial to test the efficacy of a COVID risk reduction program for Latino day laborers. The RA II will conduct literature reviews, assist with survey development and translation and participate in field research activities. S/he will assist in report and manuscript preparation and in developing presentations. S/he will also help the Project Director in monitoring program implementation. S/he will assist in coordinating activities involving the Community Advisory Board (CAB).

Position Key Accountabilities:


  • Assist in managing day-to-day project activities, including coordinating and facilitating CAB activities, research team meetings, conducting follow-up calls in Spanish and English, and helping prepare reports.
  • Conduct literature reviews and develop evidence tables to guide intervention development and adaptation.
  • Participate in field observation, data collection, and outreach activities at day labor corners
  • Leads the translation and adaptation of Spanish intervention materials.
  • Assist in the preparation and writing of manuscripts and presentations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:


  • General knowledge and some complex concepts of the research field assigned.

Preferred:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English and Spanish).
  • Some experience translating to Spanish, literature reviews, and data collection.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and SPSS.

Minimum Education:


  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience instead of education.

Minimum Experience:


  • One year of related experience in a research or clinical lab environment.
  • May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
