The Chemical Packaging Plant is a fast-paced environment and high-volume operation, responsible for manufacturing cleaning products for BISSELL. There are multiple packaging lines, which run 24 hours a day, up to 6 days a week. The standard work shift for a technician is 8 hours per day.

We have an opening for a 2nd shift Production Team Leader at our Headquarters in Walker, MI

2nd Shift- 2:45pm-11pm

The Production Team Leader is responsible for managing all aspects of their assigned shift. This includes associate training and work assignments, safety, quality, productivity, and all associated administrative activities.

Responsibilities


  • Works in conjunction with the Facilities & Safety team on all safety aspects related to the production of products. Ensures that all safety policies are being adhered to and that associates are working safely and actively engaged in the safety program.

  • Works in conjunction with the Quality Assurance team on all quality aspects related to the production of quality products. Ensures that all quality monitoring is being conducted and that products produced meet all quality standards.

  • Supervises associates in the performance of daily operations.

  • Coordinates with the Production Manager on all production needs to meet schedule requirements and provide the best use of personnel and equipment.

  • Performs all production and personnel administrative activities associated with the production operation. Activities include: associate labor hour reporting, production reporting, dispositioning of materials, etc.

  • Works in conjunction with the Maintenance Department to provide for the proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.

  • Responsible for the administration of company policies and procedures.

  • Participates in the establishment of budgets and is responsible for control of costs in area.

  • Participates in new associate interviews and provides input to the Production Manager on new hires.

  • Works in conjunction with Human Resources on all associate performance appraisals, merit and promotional increases, and disciplinary actions.

  • Identifies training needs and coordinates training activities to address those needs.

  • Works overtime as required to support customer requirements and vacation coverage for other Team Leaders.

  • Assists direct reports in the areas of set-up duties, problem-solving, and periodic role coverage as needed.

  • Works in conjunction with the Transportation Department on all product loading and shipping requirements.

  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Degree minimum: High School diploma

Specific concentration: Manufacturing environment

Experience level: 2-4 years

SPECIALIZED TRAINING/EDUCATION PREFERRED


  • Education: 4-year Degree in Management, Business, Science, or Engineering

  • Experience in a chemical blending and filling operation

  • Familiarity with Oracle software

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook and Excel

  • Organizational development experience

  • Recruiting experience

  • Supervisory experience

  • Trained First Responder (BISSELL will provide training if not already trained)

  • Hilo (Forklift) Certification/License (BISSELL will provide if needed)
