About the Opportunity

We are seeking a manager candidate focusing on supporting the Application Performance Monitoring and Management (APMM) Chapter. This position will lead the team focusing on performance engineering activity in support of mission critical systems / customers. The APMM Manager will oversee a team responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing the monitoring, performance and alerting for on-prem, Cloud, hybrid business applications. They will work closely with National IT product teams to select tools, develop standards, identify where optimization and automation is needed, driving the delivery of capabilities and solutions. This position will assist engineers while being accountable for maintaining management best practices. This is not a “Coach-Player” position: This position is managerial only.

What You Will Do:


  • Accountable to drive adoption of APMM best practices, empower teams to optimize and automate, enable continual improvement, toil reduction and develop capabilities to measure error budgets, SLI’s and SLOs.

  • Oversee and be accountable for product outcomes and product support throughout its lifecycle (e.g., concept, design, development, launch, ongoing enhancements/maintenance, and retirement) within an Agile environment.

  • Lead the implementation of APMM strategic product roadmaps and long-term vision to support goals and ensure delivery of quality product(s).

  • Lead product managers/owners, business analysts, and cross-functional teams responsible for entire product life cycle, ensure agreement, and champion value of the product.

  • Oversee design and implementation of multiple product adoption strategies, including organizational change management and training.

  • Oversee the product user support and ensure product issues are addressed according to the agreed upon service level agreement (SLA).

  • Guide development of funding and pricing strategies, if applicable.

  • Perform people management responsibilities such as hiring, staff development, coaching, employee performance appraisals, compensation decisions, and other personnel actions for on-site and remote management and staff.

  • Stay up-to-date with customer needs and industry trends to identify opportunities for product enhancement, ensuring the voice of the customer from product vision through product roadmap is represented.

  • Cultivate relationships with important partners to ensure delivery and overall satisfaction of quality product(s) and services.

  • Excellent influence and negotiation skills; ability to facilitate discussions around complex issues and bring them to resolution.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills with ability to present ideas in a business and user-friendly language.

  • Ability to adapt to continually changing priorities and evolving delivery schedules.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field / equivalent experience.

  • 5 years of experience with direct supervisory responsibilities, with at least three years of building and driving high performing empowered autonomous teams.

  • 3+ years of leading the support of complex platforms, optimizing, troubleshooting, and providing service excellence.

Qualifications:


  • Experience in monitoring, alerting and performance management of FRS applications and hosting platforms 

  • Experience working in with Enterprise Change Management / Systems of Record (Remedy, ServiceNow)

  • Experience successfully leading team(s) within Agile environment and a Product Model Org Structure.

  • Experience creating strategy and organizational change management.

  • Progressive knowledge pertaining to concepts and principles in functional area. General knowledge of department/business lines, Reserve Banks, and / or System operations, policies, procedures, and technologies.


  • Responsible for understanding and applying risk management discipline in decision making and contributing to his or her function`s risk management.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships, balance multiple stakeholder interests, and build coalitions.

  • Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communications skills tailored for the intended audience.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. Able to present information within all settings in a credible, confident, and influential manner.

  • Understanding or experience with cloud technologies and terminology, Cloud certifications a plus.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements.

  • Hours of Work: May require extended work hours. Occasional travel including overnight stays may be necessary.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • The hiring range of the POSITION is 140,000 – 160,000 annually. For candidates outside Richmond, VA, listed hiring and salary ranges may be adjusted based on your geographic location.
