Job Description:

Summary of Job:

Responsible for the cleaning of facility buildings and associated properties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of tasks relating to routine cleaning and upkeep of properties


• Properly performs casual labor, such as lifting/moving heavy items as directed by supervisors and following appropriate safety procedures


• Remove all trash and debris from responsible areas


• Clean up any spills of product or other foreign matter


• Operate power scrubber, buffer, walk-behind scrubber, and other equipment


• Sanitize restrooms, offices, break rooms, and other rooms


• Follow daily schedule as assigned by supervisor to ensure continuous cleaning/maintenance program


• Maintain facility in a clean and safe working environment; ensure safe working conditions


• Ability to handle stress and job demands


• Cooperatively work with others


• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred


• Previous custodial/janitorial experience preferred

Skills and Abilities:

• Must have a great attitude


• Great communication skills


• Superior customer service skills

Individuals may be exposed to: cramped work spaces, contaminants, extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.

Performing this job requires frequent use of hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls.  Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and stand frequently throughout the day.  Must be able to climb, reach above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently.  The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 75 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

Individuals may occasionally be exposed to hazardous conditions, high places and/or hazardous equipment.  May work with or around chemicals that require knowledge of a safety data sheet.
