Dow Consumer Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a Process Research & Development Lab Technician within the Basics Silicones Process R&D group based in Carrollton, KY.
The Carrollton site supports the Silicone Feedstocks & Intermediates business focused on maximizing productivity and increasing margin by optimizing processes, leveraging Dow's scale and global reach. It is charged with producing silicon metal, siloxane and intermediates, which are key materials to manufacture differentiated downstream silicone products. The Feedstocks & Intermediates business supplies key materials to Performance Silicones & Specialty Materials and the remaining balance is then sold externally across mostly all markets.
We're looking for a highly motivated, goal oriented, and results driven individual who enjoys scientific challenge and implementing creative improvement solutions to join the Process R&D team. As part of the team, you will significantly contribute to product development and process technology development within all of Consumer Solutions.
The technician role will include supporting product sample preparation and analysis, operation of lab scale equipment and maintenance activities. Strong organization and communication skills will be needed to manage experimental change, document results and provide progress updates to technical teams both locally and globally.
Your Key Responsibilities/Duties:
Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and foster a safety culture in all office, laboratory, and related activities.
Organize and build new experimental set-ups to support manufacturing, technology development, and hazard analysis.
Develop and implement experimental.
Ensure change management procedure is followed.
Lead laboratory and piloting process experiments from start to finish including formal documentation of all data gathering and observations
Learn and utilize analytical equipment in which to test samples
Be able to analyze results data and formulate recommendations
Effectively communicate results through verbal and written reports, including presentation form to team members
Support lab and equipment maintenance activities. Procure parts as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe laboratory - e.g., applying 5S principles
Perform laboratory chemical waste handling and packaging.
Associate Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field required OR in lieu of degree, 4 years Military Experience.

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with hazardous chemical handling, e.g. chlorosilanes

Ability to work independently with demonstrated experimental execution.
