JOB SUMMARY

A Principal Electrical Engineer leads and/or advises design teams focused on significant and unique design projects in the Cloud and Compute markets.  As a Principal Engineer, you will be expected to demonstrate a level of expertise in a particular area that matches or exceeds the expertise of customers. Develop system architectures, assess technical requirements, and determine competencies needed during quoting. Oversee and guide the designs during product developments.  Mentor and lead others in the organization to build team members design capability.

IN YOUR ROLE YOU WILL

• Leads and/or advises embedded hardware design and validation on significantly challenging and unique product applications


• Leads or advises on new and unique embedded hardware design and PCB layout designs utilizing standard tools


• Delivers solutions that require multiple Electrical design expertise across multiple EE competencies with limited supervision.


• Leads and/or advises system architecture analysis and clarifies design requirements to define the appropriate EE architecture for the design team.


• Evaluating/selecting electronic components, and makes recommendations to component mfg, regarding roadmaps and feature enhancements


• Communicates technical aspects of a project effectively to customer, and can lead some customer engagements.


• Lead design innovations and potential patentable solutions


• Lead resolution of complex design issues and manages design trade-offs


• Train/coach other engineers in design analysis and tools


• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Help drive the development and maintain processes and methods for product and technology architecture development & documentation, system design & documentation, and requirements engineering.


• Know and learn component, circuit, product, and process level technologies to support the overall direction of product design and development.


• Define Product Realization Proposals, System Specifications, Product Architectures, PRD, MRD, design reviews, test plans, integration plans, etc., in collaboration with senior technical staff and Customers.


• Guide and oversee the development of systems/products to maintain the consistency and integrity of the product architecture.


• Architect and guide analysis and simulation activities necessary to determine performance, reliability, bandwidth and other system design characteristics.


• Help provide the lowest cost solution that meets the customer needs and expectations.  Including concept, functional features, product development, components, and design process.


• Architect requirements for engineering activities in support of platform and product development.


• Architect the development and implementation of platform and products in collaboration with senior technical staff.


• Guide and oversee the development of system component requirements, interfaces, and specifications necessary to maintain the consistency and integrity of the product developments.


• Oversee product design and documentation at a system and product level.


• Work to develop partners and suppliers, when applicable to provide the best technical and cost solution.


• Build Jabil technical and business design space competency; make Jabil experts in this space.


• Work with specific regional design centers to enhance product and technical development overall capability.


• Help sell Jabil Technical Services, services and when applicable, supporting products.


• Make Jabil shine in customer interactions; RFI/RFQ and kickoff interactions.

• Assess a project and articulating risk while developing project milestones.


• Develop projects in a stage-gate process (PLCQ)


• Mentor less experienced engineers.


• Leads EE projects with multiple engineers assigned.


• Leads cross-functional and EE design reviews.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree required (BSEE)


• 7+ years experience in embedded hardware design or electrical engineering
