KMEA is a multi-discipline environmental services firm growing its contracts with the Federal Government and private sector clients. We are seeking a Habitat Restoration Ecologist Technician for work activities primarily on military bases such as Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and Marine Corps Base Miramar, but other work locations could be assigned. The Restoration Ecologist Technician shall have experience in conducting weeding, soil preparation, seeding, planting, propagation, and monitoring for habitat restoration projects. Work duties will include weeding and habitat restoration activities including special status habitat types.
The technician should have familiarity with weeding, planting, project work plans, irrigation systems for remote projects, pesticide applications, and demonstrated field skills. This role will work with the team members in performance of field work and may perform job functions independently as required. The position is primarily field-based and does require good physical conditioning and travel to work sites.
Performance Responsibilities:
Hand weeding and pesticide application.Follow work plans, restoration plans, and health & safety plans.Conduct seeding, hydroseeding, planting, and propagation.Use of hand tools and equipment related to farming and restoration projects.Learn and use Conservation Measures.Learn plant species native to California.Read irrigation diagrams and maps.Operate 4-wheel drive vehicles, and water trucks, as needed.
