Performs routine procedures for lab and production to support daily operations under the supervision of the Sensory QA/NPD Manager. This position requires entry level lab duties including preparation of samples and sensory sessions, performing limited lab analyses, and maintaining the lab and sensory suite in an orderly state.
Responsibilities
Conduct and record daily quality checks for lab instrumentation and bottling line
Precise preparation of proof downs to support QC using dilution, measuring, and weighing techniques; exposure to lab blending to support NPD
Ability to perform lab distillations and sample runs on automated densitometers
Daily maintenance of lab instrumentation to ensure longevity of instrumentation and precision and accuracy in measurements
Setup daily sensory evaluations by creating sensory sessions on the in-house database, pouring sample glasses, and providing the Sensory QA/NPD Manager with written overview of relevant sensory results
Clean-up of glassware after sensory sessions
Prepare samples for shipment for external analysis
Use of in-house software to create work orders for sample requests, sample receiving, sample labeling, and sample disposal
Maintain inventories of necessary supplies in lab
Prepare samples for marketing/sales team, as requested
Participate in sensory training and maintain sensory competency
Participate in continual education programs, as directed by manager, to enhance job performance and knowledge
Contribute to keeping a clean and organized work environment including all glassware cleaning cycles
Comply with safety regulations and procedures and use of personal protective equipment for working in a hazardous environment and with hazardous chemicals

At least 21 years of age
Experience in a laboratory setting, 1+ years preferred

Physical Requirements: The employee frequently is required to sit, talk, and listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. Frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and bending are required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Working conditions in certain areas of the distillery are cold, wet, slippery and noisy. Involves exposure to hazardous conditions.
