Launch & Development Engineer (Glass) at PPG INDUSTRIES INC in Sylmar, California

Job Description:

PPG Aerospace in Sylmar, CA is now hiring a Launch and Development Engineer! As the Launch and Development Engineer, you will prepare process sequences (Process Flow Map), cost estimate (TSR), tooling list, manufacturing capability using (PFMEA), list manufacturing process constraints and special process characteristics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for creating original documents including Bill Of Materials, Bill Of Operations, Standard Work, and updating Process Specifications as needed.
• Identify & solve problems, document root cause and corrective actions, submit reports and results to management, submit presentations & recommendations on how to reduce scrap.
• Implement improvements in manufacturing in areas of process stabilization, repeatability, control, efficiencies of labor and time and cost reduction in scrap and rework
• Specialized in Manufacturing/Process/Design Engineering, the incumbent performs standard engineering as well as more complex assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project.
• Participating as a team member in a specific phase of a engineering assignment; providing technical leadership to a small group of technicians; ensuring successful completion of the assigned project phase into production; direct customer contact in defining engineering approaches and capabilities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or process engineering, or a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with over 2 years of experience.
• Accustomed with technical procedures and documentations such as cost estimates, process capability, and DOE's preferred.
• Ability to communicate and share information, attend to detail, solve conflicts, build strong work relationships, and allocate resources.
• Must have experience and training with SPC, Lean Manufacturing, Lead Six Sigma, MRP, DOE, FMEA, PDR/CDR, Fishbone, 5Y's, Problem solving, & value stream mapping.
• Must be able to hold Lean KAIZAN event and demonstrate results.
• Must be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain security clearance.
