The Manager, Business Continuity Leader & Crisis & Emergency Operations is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Zimmer Biomet (ZB) Emergency Management & Business Continuity Program. The person will support all activities necessary to enable Zimmer Biomet to respond to a business interruption on a global level. Collaborate with the Head of Global Security Services to develop and implement global strategies to protect human, physical, or intellectual ZB assets. Provide management expertise and strategic guidance for all enterprise-wide Business Continuity & Emergency Management programs. Oversee activities in ZB Global Security Operations Center that pertain to business resumption activities, emergency action plans and emergency response and recovery operations post disaster. May travel to ZB sites worldwide to provide support for investigation or incident response. Work closely and collaborate with business leaders across the enterprise.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities


  • Within the context of a matrix organization, develop and maintain a corporate wide business continuity program that addresses Business Continuity and Emergency Operations/Recovery and response management

  • Develop, produce and update BCP/DR materials and documentation (e.g., plans, emergency response procedures, call lists, test results, etc.).

  • Perform Risk/Business Impact Anaylsis for functional areas to identify points of vulnerability, single points of failure and identify risk avoidance and mitigation strategies.

  • Assist in with crisis management in the event of a business interruption.

  • Develop status reports (e.g., report cards) on departmental/BU continuity plans and prepare management reports as necessary.

  • Identify and design strategies and programs to address known threats by analyzing hazard-risk assessment results to identify areas of improvement in emergency preparedness and planning.

  • Analyze specific incident responses and processes to identify lessons learned and improve risk and mitigation plans; participate in monitoring areas that affect the safety and security of associates and internal assets.

  • Manage, develop, and deliver plans and procedures and associated training and exercise programs in emergency preparedness and planning; evaluate training content and make necessary revisions and improvements to address gaps.

  • Manage the maintenance of divisional and company emergency operations procedures and processes.

  • Manage the design, development, and implementation of applicable policies and procedures to achieve deliverables, projected time-frames and budget requirements, and customer service.

  • Serve in the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) by supporting or leading disparate organizations through crisis event; executing company emergency preparedness procedures, response, and recovery plans; translating executive guidance into actionable emergency response and recovery procedures.

  • Design, develop, and implement a global team member awareness program about emergency management.

  • Evaluate control alternatives to reduce risk while maximizing enablement of ZB’s core business.

Education/Experience Requirements


  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree required in Business Administration, Information Technology, Criminology, Emergency Management, Business Continuity or other related field

  • A minimum of 6 years of related related experience required

  • Required certifications: Associate Emergency Management (AEM) and Certified Business Continuity Manager (CBCM)

  • Demonstrated experience in a global business continuity and emergency management role

  • Knowledge of emergency and crisis management principles

  • Preferred certifications: Certified Emergency Management (CEM), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)

  • Eight or more years of operations in large security operations centers with at least four in a Crisis/Incident Response & Recovery Management role preferred

  • Three or more years in a Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery role preferred

  • Disaster Recovery Institute (“DRI”) Certified Business Continuity Professional certification or similar preferred

Travel Requirements


  • Up to 10%

  • Ability to travel internally on short notice
