RESPONSIBILITIES

New York Sports Club and our family of brands is seeking a Senior Operations Director (SOD) to join our team in a multi-unit leadership role overseeing a market of 30-40 clubs in New York City, New Jersey, Westchester, Long Island, and the New York City Boroughs. The SOD is responsible for 50+ million in revenue and oversees sales, retention, customer service and fitness metrics, by driving results through other multi-unit leaders and club. The ability to prioritize and focus on team development including recruiting, performance management and training is key to success in this role. The SOD oversees a regional span of clubs and provides strategic guidance through tactical business planning. S/He will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee sales and operations activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization.

Creates and maintains a culture of excellence and accountability, while implementing business frameworks and systems that maximize organizational effectivenessAnalyzes and monitors the budget, sales, and expenses for each club location, provide feedback and make recommendations for improvement to ensure profitability is maximized Monitors business volume and advises changes and corrective action, if needed, to adjust staff levels, operating costs, group exercise and ancillary functions, sales processes, and other factors to meet business goals Creates and presents data analytics to assess KPI, goal achievement and areas of improvement Evaluates scheduled and actual labor hours and costs, keep labor costs within budget, while managing long-range staffing needs Champions the engagement and retention strategy for the overall member journey and tracking member risk and forecasting Develops, implements, and manages New Member Welcome and acclimation process, while achieving both quantitative (member growth) and qualitative (member experience) goals Responsible for budgeting of dues lost, cancelations and downgrades, and ensures that adequate cash/member charge procedures are followed, documented, and reported in an accurate and timely manner Understands the key behavioral drivers of performance in our teams and can constantly reinforce and motivate team members to achieve results Identifies sales and operations process gaps and implements necessary change in the form of coaching, standards training or performance management and recognizing team members who exceed performance standards Conducts root cause analysis with local teams to identify the underlying issues that are impacting sales and developing action plans to increase performance Help build compensation and incentive plans that drive expected behaviors that drive company goals Works with teams on managing the club staff throughout the entire employee lifecycle: from best hiring practices, to onboarding customer-centric staff, to succession & workforce planning, to performance management and rewarding highest performers for retention purposes Consults with HR to conduct employee relations investigations and report issues timely with supporting documentation uploaded in UKG Ready Ensures all HR mandates are executed and approve completion. Coaches to satisfactory execution i.e., performance management process, sexual harassment trainings, labor posters, hiring initiatives, etc. Coordinates new club openings, club closings, assists in planning of facility improvements, preventative maintenance of equipment, repair, and remodeling/construction Monitors and updates emergency, safety plans/procedures, and trainings to ensure employees conformance with safety procedures and ensure proper safety staff certifications (i.e., CPR/AED and First Aid)

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree 8 10 years of multi-unit management in a customer facing retail or fitness environment preferred 5 7 years experience in a sales environment or sales driven role Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals Experience working in a challenging and demanding environment, must be dependable, self-directed, organized, influential, detail-oriented, and able to complete projects with limited supervision. Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management Proven track record of supervising and developing other managers Ability to recruit and train staff, with a proven track of managing, growing, and retaining teams Significant experience in managing large scale, cross-functional projects, building cross-functional partnerships and working with vendors Revenue goal and cost management experience Must be able to travel to all markets within established territory Proven ability to identify gaps through sales trends and nimbly adjust strategy to drive sales growth Ability to proficiently use our POS and membership system, timekeeping any other computer programs required to meet the business needs of the customer and NYSC Work the last 3 out of 4 days of the month, with September and January a being blackout The company reserves the right to change business needs require and that jobs may require other tasks as assigned to the employee by the company
