Coordinator, Latinx Student Development & Diversity - (220000GF) Job Summary Towson University (TU) is one of the nation's top 100 public universities. The Coordinator of Latinx Student Development & Diversity is responsible for acting as a support, advocate, and "accomplice" to the Latinx and undocumented communities, while supporting the vision and mission of the Center for Student Diversity (CSD) and Office of Inclusion & Institutional Equity (OIIE). Under the supervision of the Director for the Center for Student Diversity, the coordinator ensures that services and initiatives are provided that contribute to and address the intellectual, social, and developmental needs of Latinx and undocumented students. The coordinator will provide education and development for all graduate and student assistants. The coordinator will also collaborate with Center for Student Diversity staff to educate the campus community about inequitable social structures and assist in creating a healthy, inclusive campus environment that affirms Latinx and undocumented students. Advocacy for diversity, inclusion, and social justice is a major aspect of this position.

Responsibilities and Duties Responsibilities for the Coordinator of Latinx Student Development & Diversity include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Work to create an inclusive campus environment for Latinx and undocumented students, using an intersectional lens Collaborate with a broad range of campus entities, including student organizations (Office of Student Activities, Counseling Center, Career Center, Health Center, and other institutional partners) to create and execute a calendar of programs and activities that focus on Latinx and undocumented student issues and overall student development (i.e., activities that focus on race/ethnicity, immigration, low-income/first generation status, DACA/Dreamers, intracultural diversity, etc.) Coordinate, develop, and promote resources, educational materials, and an online presence that support Latinx and undocumented students across different national, ethnic, and racial backgrounds Advise Latinx and undocumented students and student organizations, including the Latin American Student Organization, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc., and League of United Latin American Citizens Represent the Center for Student Diversity and the Office of Inclusion & Institutional Equity on departmental, divisional, and university-wide committees; maintain collaborative partnerships with interdisciplinary departments and initiate co-sponsorship opportunities within and outside OIIE Provide supervision, education, and training for graduate and student assistants in the CSD; provide scheduled trainings, mentoring, and educational development for hired student leaders and supervised student interns Assist with other duties within the Center for Student Diversity and Office of Inclusion & Institutional Equity

Qualifications and Skills Required Qualifications:


  • Master's degree Two years of experience working with underserved/underrepresented student populations, specifically Latinx and undocumented students Knowledge of higher education Knowledge of Latinx student development theories and best practices Ability to work with a wide range of students, staff, and faculty in a diverse college setting

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Social Work, Cultural Studies, Latinx Studies, or a closely related field Proficiency in Spanish
