Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Community Liaison March 29th 2022

Allegheny College, a small selective national liberal arts college, invites applications for the position of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Community Liaison. The position is a part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Dean for Institutional Diversity.


Under the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Community Liaison will be a key partner in creating and sustaining engagement opportunities between Allegheny students and employees and Meadville community members to have dialogue and educational conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion, with an emphasis on racial equity. This position focuses on building bridges with community stakeholders to support broad efforts around equity and inclusion. This position will serve as liaison to the local community surrounding Allegheny College (Meadville, PA/Crawford County) and to community partners on diversity, equity, and inclusion related issues. This position is part-time (up to 20 hours a week).


Essential Functions



  • Identify key campus and community stakeholders to complete needs assessments and understand the scope of diversity, equity, and inclusion related issues within Meadville

  • Create and manage structures, programs, and events to explicitly advance diversity, equity and inclusion in Meadville

  • Plan/host social programming and community events to build relationships with and create connections between/for BIPOC, LGBT+, and other marginalized and minoritized members of the Meadville community

  • Oversee Community Mentors Program (CMP) including refining program objectives, identifying community partners and program volunteers, hiring and training community volunteers, and recruiting student participants

  • Work closely with the Office of Institutional Advancement on grant writing and grant management responsibilities centered around DEI and community oriented projects


Qualifications



  • Strong project management skills to handle complex projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work across different functions and build relationships with stakeholders.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; strong writing, editing and proofreading abilities.

  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of multiple facets of diversity: cultural, ethnic, racial, religious, gender, educational, age, sexual orientation, linguistic, professional, and other identities.

  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (NS does not sponsor employment-related visas)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
