Job Description:

Delivery Material Handler

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. 
   Delivery
   
   
   1. Responsible for loading or assisting in loading and securing materials on trucks daily.
   
   
   2. Assists in verifying the quantities of materials for accuracy.
   
   
   3. Assists driver in locating the job site.
   
   
   4. Spot driver when backing up into a job site.
   
   
   5. Direct driver in placement of the conveyor.
   
   
   6. Unload or assists in unloading materials by using forklift crane, conveyor and/or by hand. (May require walking varying distances based on job site conditions.)
   
   
   
   


2. Roof Top

1. 
   
   
   
   1. Responsible for climbing up to a 40-foot ladder (to receive delivered materials) on a pitch of up to an 8/12 roof.
   
   
   2. Ensure proper stacking and distribution in the placement of materials on the roof.
   
   
   3. Must have excellent capability to maneuver about high-level rooftops all while maintaining strong concentration on tasks.
   
   
   
   

1. 
   Equipment
   
   
   1. Ensure truck is properly equipped for delivery including filling cooler, strapping materials, loading ladder, and other as needed.
   
   
   
   

1. 
   OSHA
   
   
   1. Responsible for OSHA compliance as it relates to oneself and the company

   Inventory
   
   
   1. Assist in taking inventory quarterly or as needed.
   
   
   
   

1. 
   Maintenance
   
   
   1. Minor repairs as needed.
   
   
   
   

1. 
   Safety
   
   
   1. Responsible for aiding in the safe operation of vehicles as it relates to the customer’s property and Gulfeagle’s property.

   Customer Service
   
   
   1. Aiding Customers with materials, reporting problems with deliveries, service issues, etc.

   Miscellaneous
   
   
   1. Performs all other tasks as needed
   
   
   
   

 

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reports directly to the Branch Manager and indirectly to the Regional Manager on branch and personnel issues. Reports indirectly to the Safety Coordinator regarding fleet, safety, and staff.

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Delivery Material Handlers must possess the following qualifications, or their equivalent as determined by the Branch and Warehouse Manager:

 

Preferred Education, Experience, and Licensing

1.         Read, write, and comprehend English or Spanish as required by the branch location.

2.         Knowledge of roofing material and/or construction and distribution.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1.         Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.

2.         Ability to bend, reach, lift, and climb

3.         Must lift up to 100 pounds of material continually for up to two hours at a time.

4.         Ability to work on multi-story buildings at various heights.

5.         Ability to work in hot, cold, rain, or shine.

6.         Requires a high degree of attention to ensure proper delivery while preventing damage to materials and equipment.

7.         Ability to maintain loyalty to Gulfeagle Supply

8.         Ability to interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner. Tact and diplomacy required in dealing with customer personnel at delivery points.

9.         Ability to handle all functions of the job in a safe manner.

11.       Must pass pre-employment drug test; employees are subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy.
