Part-time Adjunct Faculty

Waubonsee Community College is accepting applications for a part-time instructor for Developmental English (Integrated Reading and Writing) courses.


Adjunct Faculty are responsible for providing instruction and formatively and summatively assessing student learning. This position requires a professional with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning.


Reporting to the Dean, Adjunct Faculty prepare course syllabi and design lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to address different learning styles and ensure that students successfully meet the course objectives and outcomes. They also incorporate learning centered principles and concepts and motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational experience. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for student evaluation as well as timely and accurate reporting such as attendance verifications, academic progress, and final course grades.

They work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities. Demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.



Minimum Qualifications



Bachelor's Degree in English, English Education or Reading from an accredited college REQUIRED.


Competency in technologies commonly used in college level instruction (canvas & zoom).


Experience teaching face-to-face, hybrid, and online.



Preferred Qualifications:



Master's degree in English, English Education or Reading


Experience teaching Developmental English at a community college or university.


Experience with ELL students a plus.
