Finance Manager - North America Expense Management at Chubb in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This position will generally report to the Senior Manager, North America Expense Management and be responsible for monthly/quarterly expense analysis and reporting, reconciling, and managing expense accruals in addition to the annual expense budget process and analyzing employee position level data.  Responsibilities will also include monthly journal entry approval, analysis of results, and coordination with various divisions within Chubb.  This candidate will work closely with various finance units, including the North America Segment Finance, Division Finance Officers, Global Support Unit functions, and financial systems departments.  Additionally, this candidate will have an opportunity to interact with a diverse group of internal personnel, including other financial professionals, human resources, technology experts, and functional staff.

Key Responsibilities

 


  • Oversee the North America Expense Management process, including direct management of one employee

  • Perform month-to-date and quarter-to-date analysis of expenses vs. plan and prior year on a pre-allocated and post-allocated basis

  • Manage expense accrual process, including Incentive Compensation accruals, facilitating/evaluating accrual needs for business and support units, and ownership of accrual account reconciliations

  • Coordinate annual expense budget process, including working with Expense Planning and Work Force Planning TM1 instances

  • Maintain employee position level information including analysis of movement in headcount and salary data on a bi-weekly basis

Education and Experience

 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting or financial reporting experience

  • Comprehensive experience in finance and a strong working knowledge of financial systems is preferred

  • Insurance experience, preferably experience working with a commercial P&C, Life, or A&H carrier

  • Public Accounting experience and CPA designation preferred
