JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

Sundt is seeking an experienced, qualified Sustainability Director to join our team. The role will involve implementing and maintaining internal sustainability initiatives and serving as a sustainable construction expert across the organization.

The employee filling this position will work directly with internal operating groups and project teams to implement sustainable initiatives and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Create tools and templates for sustainable construction best practices.
2. Demonstrate excellence in developing and leading sustainability initiatives that align with Sundt's overall sustainability goals, understanding how all business units contribute and adjusting strategy as needed.
3. Develop internal sustainability trainings and educational resources.
4. Integrate ESG reporting requirements and communication into operating procedures and communication standards.
5. Plan, develop and manage the company's sustainability reports and other disclosures, outlining sustainability-related efforts and results in alignment with broader public disclosure frameworks (ex: CDP, GRI, SBTi, etc.)
6. Prepare, maintain, and submit ESG sustainability metrics and documentation - including carbon emissions, energy, water, and waste.
7. Serve as the internal technical expert on sustainable construction projects, low-carbon concrete strategies, net-zero energy, water/waste reduction, etc.
8. Support pursuit teams when working with potential projects and ESG-conscious clients.
9. Track emerging and developing sustainable construction practices, ensuring company activities are relevant and aligned with trends in the external environment.

Minimum Job Requirements

1. A bachelor's degree in a relevant area of environmental studies/natural sciences/Construction Management/Engineering or similar subject.
2. Careful attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, proactiveness, and strong time management.
3. Excellent ESG report writing skills and experience aligning ESG metrics with CDP, GRI, and/or SBTi frameworks.
4. Excellent and professional communication skills - written, spoken, and by phone.
5. Experience with EC3 tool or other LCA tools (Tally, One-Click, Athena) preferred.
6. Knowledge and experience in supporting projects in addressing sustainability challenges and opportunities including any of the following: resource efficiency, life cycle assessment and/or sustainable procurement.
7. Knowledge and relevant experience of the A/E/C industry
8. Minimum 5 years of experience managing a sustainability program
9. Strong technical understanding of sustainability, climate change and environmental management and demonstrable experience providing advisory and practical support in embedding sustainability or environmental management within organizations and projects.

3. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis

5. Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50Ibs on an occasional basis.
6. Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
7. Will use telephone, computer system, email, and other electronic devices on a frequent basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors
