We are seeking a full-time Senior Engineering Technician for our Salem, Oregon Location. In this role, you will be responsible for the layout, build, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying of advanced developmental and production electronic circuits, equipment, and systems.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Partner with Design Engineers to debug 1st prototypes including new circuits or systems and may modify designs, build, and test prototype circuits for new products
Perform expert level PCB and unit modifications including adjusting, calibrating, aligning, and/or modifying circuitry and components and record effects on unit performance
Recommend design improvements and changes in advanced circuitry or assembly methods to improve reliability or simplify assembly and maintenance
Serve as expert on lab equipment/tools, including maintaining lab test fixtures and apparatus and may design test fixture improvements using standard or automated tools (LabView, Visual Basic)
Create system integration benches and load software as needed
Leverage understanding of system interconnects and wiring practices and can diagnose and correct connection and wiring problems and/or create system wiring diagrams
Leverage understanding of system wiring and create wiring diagrams for harness fabrication
Write technical reports, including documentation of the test setup, block diagrams, and test setup schematics to fully document test results and analysis
Set up, run and complete detailed, error free qualification plans and reports (DV, PV, ELOT, DO160, live GPS testing, FCC/CE, etc.) with little direction
Able to lead or assist with new component evaluation and qualification including LCDs, SD cards, Flash/DRAM die shrink, power supplies, etc.
Serve as a mentor to Engineering Lab Assistants and Engineering Technicians including sharing knowledge on lab tools/processes/procedures
Identify and resolve defects of advanced scope using proper engineering tools and techniques and independently determine general approach and specific solutions to technical problems
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology or related electronics/technical field AND a minimum of 4 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrated understanding of advanced level schematic designs and design of test circuits
Demonstrated expert proficiency using lab equipment and tools including ability to efficiently create test setups and advanced level designs
Demonstrated understanding of electrical engineering/software system interactions and can differentiate between hardware and software problems
Demonstrated full use of design standards and procedures and advanced knowledge of product test plans and procedures
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems while demonstrating a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion
Must be team-oriented, positive, and possess excellent time management and follow-up skills while performing job functions independently with minimal direction and with a balanced focus on quality and quantity
Must possess the ability to bend, twist and lift up to 75 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, and pushing/pulling test equipment racks of up to 200 pounds, standing for an entire shift, climbing and utilizing ladders to connect cables and walking long distances throughout the facility
