Job Description:

Reports to CFO. This position oversees the daily operation of the Registration Department and manages assigned staff. In addition, this position is responsible for performing as a Registrar on a daily basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain and update current Registration policies as needed. Communicate updates to the Registration Staff.

    • Schedule monthly Registration Department meetings.

    • Prepare monthly staff schedule. Maintain scheduling and staffing relevant to patient volume and workload.

    • Provide for proper training, education, orientation for the Registration Department.

    • Maintain departmental CQI plan. Formulate report and present at CQI meeting.

    • Assist with expediting the billing process. Functions would include but are not limited to: work the registration error, charge entry, payment posting, clear the rejection batch, as well as other billing and/or collection processes needed to resolve the bill.

    • Perform the duties of a Registrar on a daily basis as outlined in the Registrar job description.

    • Participate in designated hospital meetings offering suggestions for improving the delivery of services. Support administrative decisions and direction to subordinates.

    • Hire qualified personnel, discipline and terminate as necessary and submit to CFO for final approval.

    • Perform employee evaluations on a timely basis. Maintain up-to-date performance standards, set objectives.

    • Maintain open communication with staff, co-workers and guests. Follow up on complaints, solve problems as necessary.

    • Assist associates when needed.

    • Comply with all corporate compliance and privacy re gulations.


  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department:
      • Completes other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
    ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:


    • Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.

    • Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.

    • Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.

    • Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.

    • Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.

    • Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.

    • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.

    • Complies with established organization and department policies.

    • Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

      Education and Experience

      The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

      Knowledge & Skills

      • Medical terminology.

      • Computer skills.

      • Conscientious, tactful.

      • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

      • Understands and complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct. Understands and complies with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health information and patient privacy.

      • Attendance at one in-service each year to review hospital policies and procedures is mandatory or view staff orientation presentation on the intranet and turn in quiz to Human Resources.


      Working Conditions

      Works in a hospital office and patient care environment. Since this position is subject to inside environmental conditions with limited exposure to patients, there is always the risk of Blood Borne Pathogens (i.e. Hepatitis, HIV).

      Physical Demands

      May be required to lift records up to 25 pounds. Bending, stooping, and filing overhead.
