Reporting to the Administrative Director of Critical Care Nursing, the Cardiac Stepdown RN Manager will oversee a busy, high-acuity unit. Your talents in both Intensive Care Nursing and Clinical Leadership will be front and center as you collaborate across disciplines and departments to ensure that patient care standards are closely maintained. Supported by two experienced CVICU Charge Nurses, the Cardiac Stepdown Patient Care Manager will provide vision, leadership, and mentorship to a strong staff of 60+ Critical / Intensive Care Registered Nurses.

The Critical Care and Stepdown departments in this 300+ bed Medical Center have a great reputations for high-quality care and exceptional patient outcomes. This 24-bed department primarily sees Cardiovascular Stepdown patients, but also sees Medical ICU patients. Medical support is provided by Intensive Care Hospitalists and Cardiovascular Intensivists staffed around the clock, and close ancillary support is offered by an experienced Respiratory Care Team. The Cardiac Stepdown RN Manager should have strong skills in clinical leadership in high-acuity environments.

The RN Patient Care Manager will play a crucial role in the clinical and administrative operations of the Cardiac Stepdown Unit. In collaboration with inpatient financial analysts, you’ll work closely with the Director to develop and maintain the units’ annual budgets. The Nursing Manager will also take oversight of achieving and maintaining target staffing levels to ensure patient care and safety, as well as staying current on compliance standards for a number of regulatory agencies.

Clinically, the RN Manager of Patient Care will play a large role in developing the next generation of Cardiac and Intensive Care Nurses. This person will help develop and support ongoing in-service education initiatives aimed at improving skills competencies across the unit and across the hospital. Serving as a mentor and role model, the Manager will get to be the change they’ve always wanted to see.
