Arconic is currently in search of Casthouse Mechanical Engineer to join our Technology and Engineering team in Alcoa, Tennessee.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Responsibilities

The p rimary responsibilities include reviewing new capital equipment designs and installations, maintaining a core competency of internal and external casthouse technologies, creating engineering and technical solutions to drive higher business value, and maintaining the Arconic safety culture. This person will be report to the Director of Capital Management and Engineering in the Technology and Engineering group.

Key Objectives


  • Must exhibit a corporate level expertise in the areas of Casting and Melting/Recycling Equipment and Technologies
  • Able to facilitate internal and external benchmarking and lead the technology transfer across Arconic locations.
  • Create technical direction for Casting and Melting/Recycling related PDRB level and Investment Committee level capital projects across global network.
  • Lead Front End studies and support locations with Business Case and funding approval applications.
  • Lead the installation, commissioning, and startup of major Casthouse Capex projects
  • Foster a working relationship with suppliers of major process equipment and be knowledgeable of the most recent developments in all aspects of Casting, Melting, and Recycling processes and equipment.
  • Provides advanced technical training to plant and RU resources on Casthouse equipment and design.
  • Resolving complex Casthouse process and equipment issues that cannot be resolved by local resources.
  • Lead/advise on failure analysis (FMEAs) including directing problem-solving teams towards identification of root caused and corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in aluminum industry with 7 years focused in the aluminum Melting/Casting areas
  • Proven ability to manage Capital projects from front end studies through to successful start up and hand over.
