BETA is looking for Mechanical Engineering Interns to support a number of subteams
focused on the development of innovative electric aircraft components from conception through assembly. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at BETA Technologies, you will work as part of a small team to rapidly develop new technologies in the evolving world of eVTOL aircraft design. You will utilize necessary CAD modeling and analysis tools to ensure your designs are meeting the highest safety standards and exceeding all relevant regulatory requirements. You will be challenged every day and definitely have a lot of fun!

Summer Internships are primarily offered May-August. If your availability is outside of this timeframe, please communicate specifics in your cover letter.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:


    • Support design of products using CAD; own and manage all parts in detailed assemblies.

    • Support development of prototypes and experimentation to inform future designs.

    • Support development of scalable manufacturing processes in parallel with product design.

    • Operate required machinery and equipment in a safe manner following established safety requirements in accordance with company and government regulations and guidelines, maintain a neat and clean work area, follow established tool and instrument control procedures, and report any unsafe acts or conditions to team members.

Minimum Qualifications we are seeking (your Knowledge, Experience, and Abilities):


    • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or another Engineering degree with a strong Mechanical Design focus from an accredited University.

    • Demonstrated experience with 3D CAD software (OnShape, Solidworks, or Catia).

    • Self-starter who is high-energy, well organized, disciplined, and able to work independently.

    • Open-minded and outside-the-box thinker.

    • Demonstrated interest or hobbies related to aviation, electric vehicles, or motors (i.e. home built electric vehicles, AERO club at school, etc.).

    • Good team, communication, and leadership skills.

    • Competency with Google G-Suite including Drive, Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Charts, Hangouts; Slack; Application Lifecycle.

Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you (preferred qualifications):


    • Mastery of 3D CAD software (OnShape, Solidworks, or Catia) with experience in FEA (ANSYS preferred).

    • Experience in any of the following areas of design and testing: high voltage battery packs, composites, thermal design, structural analysis, shock and vibe, and environmental sealing.

    • Prior involvement with instrumentation and related data collection/analysis.
