Job Description:

Federal Signal has an immediate opening for a Sr Software Engineer based at our University Park, Illinois facility. This position is responsible for delivering .NET and service-based projects for our Police/Fire businesses.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for full development life-cycle from requirements thru production release.

  • Create and utilize patterns and frameworks as part of an overall software architecture blueprint.

  • Summarizes research and development work in a report and specification.

  • Provides design guidance and instructions on design principles for Engineer 1 and II level Engineers.

  • Coordinates project progress by monitoring performance of designers and other personnel.

  • Provide engineering support to Field Service to assist in resolving warranty and performance issues.

  • May include travel to the field and/or trade shows.

  • Perform product evaluations to determine if engineering standards are met.

  • Identify and mitigate risks in process and technology

  • Produce and present architectural and development guidelines and best practices

  • Flexibility to perform other duties and assignments as required.

Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in technology related field or equivalent from an accredited university.

  • 5+ years of previous experience in a similar role required.

  • Experience with web service and development framework (WPF, WCF, WF, Asp.net, XAML.net framework ver. 2.0-4.0), Software development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, integration and testing) and web services/integration platforms.
