Senior Underwriting Operations Specialist, International A&H at Chubb in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

Support Underwriting Operations for International Accident & Health “IAH”, including but not limited to: Audit Management, Authority Management, Management of Underwriting Associate program, Reinsurance Support, Underwriting Project Management and Underwriting Support

 

 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Audit Management:


  • Supports the Underwriting Audit process within IAH – cycle management/schedule management, audit recommendations and guidelines

  • Assists in regular trend analysis

  • Ensure the quality and timeliness underwriting audit programs

  • Assist in creating audit training programs, documents, and webinars

  • Support on-going revisions and maintenance of underwriting audit system, Athenium

  • Input audit findings into Athenium and document reports and supporting evidence appropriately

  • Identify operational efficiencies improvement areas for the audit and reporting processes

  • Monitor the peer review process and monthly reporting

  • Tracking of audit and file action items and portfolio review action items through to completion

 

Authority & Underwriting Governance Management


  • Support the administration of underwriting authorities and annual delegation and attestation processes


  • Support the development the IAH Policies, Procedures and UW Bulletins

  • Support the development of Underwriting and Underwriting Governance training material

  • Update central repositories of products and policy wordings

  • Log referrals and submissions from the region for documentation and trend analysis

  • Assist in exploring opportunities to improve referral workflow

 

Portfolio Management, Account Management, Project Management and Underwriting Support


  • Support data management initiatives and conduct data analytics to help improve data capabilities

  • Provide product development and project management support for multi-region initiatives

  • Support management of Quarterly Account Management, Portfolio Management and performance monitoring of key accounts and Special Acceptance accounts

  • Collaborate with a broad range of international colleagues in areas including business development, marketing, Digital/IT, product development, actuarial, underwriting, finance, and operations

  • Co-ordination and management of ad-hoc underwriting projects where needed, including but not limited to multinational operations,

    Reinsurance and Cat Management



  • Support the field on matters relating to reinsurance treaties and processes & procedures

  • Support facilitation of reinsurance activities and initiatives working with reinsurance, accounting, finance, claims, legal, and regional offices

  • Assist with treaty reinsurance renewals, approval submissions, quarterly tracking and exposure monitoring as needed

  • Support the catastrophe modeling process including exposure tracking of black swan cat events

  • Coordinate with actuarial, CAT modeling team, and A&H underwriting for A&H Dot Cat modeling to achieve best possible reinsurance terms

  • underwriting associate program, technical underwriting, learning and development training modules, reinsurance support


  • University graduate; masters preferred

  • 5 to 7 years+ of related work experience preferred

  • 3 years+ of A&H Underwriting experience preferred

  • International experience preferred

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, strong initiative and drive

  • Expertise in underwriting and reinsurance management

  • Knowledge of insurance concepts, practices and procedures

  • Strong Initiative and Drive – entrepreneurial spirit is required

  • Ability to work with people from different cultures and knowledge of foreign languages, desirable but not required e.g. Spanish

  • Proactive, business-focused, problem solver

  • Designation in a related field (i.e. CPCU or ARe designations) preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and Windows Software products

  • Ability to learn third-party systems, web-applications and databases and become proficient

  • Flexible and adaptable with ability to react positively to changes and revise methods and priorities

  • Ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment

  • Ability to exercise good judgment, professionalism and diplomacy in decision making in individual and group interactions

  • Strong oral and written interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and inquiry skills to evaluate situations and make logical decisions

  • Desire to work in an international insurance environment

  • Ability to travel internationally (up to 20%)
