Job Title: Director, Product Group RCB & Steering Column
Job Duties: This position is responsible for developing and implementing regional product and customer strategies for product group of RCB & Steering Column. This position has commercial responsibilities relative to product changes, pricing, profitability, and contract review at a regional level. Accountable for the budgeting and forecasting for the regional product group. The position must manage in an agile practice.
Essential Functions:
Develops regional product segment roadmap/ strategy in line with global product strategy
Translates regional customer requirements into regional and global product roadmap
Manages region-specific product adjustments together with global R&D sitting in region
Defines regional value proposition and commercialization of product group portfolio (incl. pricing) together with R&D and Technical Sales
Drives regional projects
Prepares Regional Business cases outlining the resources, timing, and budget needed for the regional project and is responsible for regional financial performance based on at least HK 1 and respective regional Business Cases
Feeds Business Case inputs towards global product group leadership.
Provides regional product group input on STRAP
Plans and steers the project in terms of time, cost and quality
Aligns targets and gate reviews on product with product group leadership
Monitors work packages of team members and assists in addressing barriers and roadblocks to task completion.
Performs pre-gate review and prepares gate review to release phase
Initiates project change requests (scope, budget, timeline) and clarifies with project champion
Identifies, monitors and reports project risks/ project target deviation and plans and directs countermeasures and eventually initiates escalation measures
Closes project – performs lessons learned and hands over to line organization
Conducts assessment of market shares and competitor landscape
Executes customer product strategy reflecting regional requirements (in close alignment with R-KAM)
Supports innovation management of product portfolio with regional and market-specific requirements
Executes regional patent strategy and patent application
Verifies existing/planned product portfolio vs. market requirements with roadmap
Monitors and controls introduction of new part numbers and product variants
Defines/initiates and conducts
Agile Practice Essential Functions:
Sets a strategic vision for the whole Meta Scrum
Creates a single, prioritized backlog of value to be delivered by all of the teams (these items are typically larger Product Backlog Items that will need further refinement & decomposition by the team POs.)
At the executive/meta level, leads the MetaScrum event where the overall Product Backlog is presented and alignment with stakeholders is achieved.
Works closely with their associated Scrum of Scrums Master so that the Release Plan that the Product Owner team generates can be deployed efficiently.
Monitors customer product feedback, as well as product feedback from the Meta Scrum, and adjusts the backlog accordingly.
Required Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field and 10 years of work experience in Product Development, Business Development, and Engineering in the Commercial Vehicle Industry or related field. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in in Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field and 7 years of work experience in Product Development, Business Development, and Engineering in the Commercial Vehicle Industry or related field. Must also have:
7 years of experience with Chassis (Undercarriage Subsystems) or Powertrain (Power Generation Subsystems, Power Transmission/Drivetrain Subsystems) in the Commercial Vehicle Industry;
5 years of experience with Six-Sigma and Green Belt knowledge to resolve engineering, product and process issues by using tools such as DMAIC, RCA, 8D;
5 years of experience with engineering and product development, including Concept, CAD (Computer Aided Design), dFMEA (Design Failure Mode Analysis), Engineering, PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), DVP (Design Verification Plan) for new products, product changes, and cost reduction/profitability;
5 years of experience with Engineering Project Management including contract/scope review, planning (budgeting, forecasting), monitoring and execution, attending review meetings, presenting the status to senior management and delivering results. Engineering Project Management also includes coordinating the assigned technical resources, mentoring technical teams and working with customers (internal and external);
1 year of experience with business development by identifying new business development opportunities, develop and implement customer-specific strategies to drive the continuous profitable growth of the enterprise;
1 year of experience with market research, segmentation, analysis, Pricing, Positioning, Long Term Agreements (LTAs), and Contract Reviews; and
5 years of experience with manufacturing issue resolutions.
