Job Summary:

Performs a variety of complex administrative tasks involving some discretion and requiring moderate amounts of independent judgment related to the daily operations of the Global Initiatives unit. Responsibilities include communication, scheduling, registration, data collection and reporting, committees, and events.

Duties/Physical Demands:

Monitors and reviews operations of unit; ensures smooth work flow; ensures work product meets professional standards.
Serves as informational resource to staff; investigates and resolves problems or difficulties related to area of expertise.
Assists University staff, faculty, and students; answers inquiries and provides information.
Oversees staff; assists in the enforcement of policies and procedures; establishes schedules and reviews performance.
Registration specialist tasks and responsibilities for credit and non-credit programs, including course building, student registration, and reporting.
Assists the Associate Vice President and others with office calendars, coordinates and schedules meetings & events, routine to complex administrative functions requiring independent judgment.
Gathers and analyzes statistical information regarding department's programs and activities; produces reports.
May assist in the performance of various financial and budgetary tasks including preparing and monitoring budgets, preparing fiscal reports, or processing payments; may maintain inventory of supplies.
Acts as Passport Acceptance Agent.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires nine months of coursework or training beyond high school in Business Administration and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and expertise.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Requires nine months of coursework or training beyond high school in Business Administration and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and expertise.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong communication skills; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills, proven customer service skills; ability to work cooperatively with others.


Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize on-going tasks and projects.


Knowledge of office applications, including data base applications.


Experience with Miami's software such as Buyway, Banner, Travel, & P-card.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Generally typical office environment. May require considerable walking, standing, or bending. May have periodic assignments which entail dealing with modestly unpleasant conditions.
