Job Description:

The Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) seeks to hire a full-time faculty member (assistant, associate or full professor) specializing in international enrollment management, administration, budgeting, and staff management. The new faculty member will teach primarily in the Master of International Educational Management (IEM) program. The IEM program prepares students for professional careers; IEM program goals reflect a commitment to leveraging technology in global learning and advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability. The new faculty member will demonstrate this commitment in their past work and approach to teaching.


Classes in the IEM program are also attended by students from other Institute programs. Our students come from diverse backgrounds; they include international and U.S. students who vary in age, prior experience, and type of undergraduate education. 


Applicants must demonstrate excellent teaching ability, significant International Education practitioner experience in international enrollment management, administration, budgeting, and staff management, and applied research interests along with relevant publications. Experience teaching in a variety of modes of in-person, online (asynchronous and synchronous), and hybrid instruction and delivery is essential.


The position will also be integral to the design of the Institute of the future, as the professor will be collaborating on the development of cross-disciplinary courses and curricula that will prepare graduate professionals in areas of intercultural competence, intercultural leadership, intercultural skills for personal and professional effectiveness (working with self and others), project management, and program management, assessment, and evaluation. Depending on skills and background, the professor in this position may also be called upon to contribute to administrative work related to academic and operational priorities of the Institute, particularly in the area of enrollment management.


The position is open as to rank, and open both for a person with a traditional academic background and a person whose background is mainly professional rather than academic (for an appointment as a professor of practice). A Master's Degree in a relevant field is required; doctorate is preferred. Compensation for this position ranges from $75,000 to $95,000.
