Job Description Summary:

Directs and oversees the development, implementation, and administration of the University's accreditation, assessment, and program review processes, in support of the University's core mission and education goals. Monitors and coordinates the University's accreditation compliance efforts, ensuring that all compliance activities are effectively integrated and in support of the accreditation objectives of the institution. Performs other duties as assigned.


Responsibilities:


WASC and Professional Accreditation and Program Reviews


  • Develops and leads the administration of processes and systems that support the University's WASC, professional accreditation and program review efforts and site visits

  • Reviews and provides guidance in preparation of annual reports

  • Establishes accreditation and program review calendars, monitors timelines and advises academic units across the University to ensure consistent compliance with the on-going requirements and outcomes standards

  • Advises and communicates frequently with and provides guidance to faculty councils and committees on accreditation and assessment related activities

  • Works closely with professionally accredited programs and those seeking professional accreditation, to provide guidance, review of documents, leadership and support with accreditation reports and schedules, substantive change proposals and annual accreditation reporting

  • Conducts analyses of institutional assessment data and generates reports that demonstrate academic program quality and assessment findings

  • Collaborates with Institute for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (IETL) to create and promote professional development and training workshops on assessment and program review best practices

  • Oversees collection and reviews of Annual Learning Outcome Reports; disseminates information from the reports to generate WASC documentation and updates website ·

  • Plans, organizes and oversees site visits designed to support program review and accreditation requirements

  • Serves as the campus liaison to external, visiting reviewers for program reviews and accreditation visits

  • Tracks progress on closing the loop and follows-up with program review findings

  • Ensures that comprehensive records are maintained and oversees archiving of materials





General Education Assessment

  • Provides consultation, guidance and support for GE assessment and assessment of WASC Core Competencies

  • Designs systems and develops timelines




Administration Responsibilities

  • Reviews assessment plans, curriculum maps, PLOs for new and existing programs

  • Liaises with the Undergraduate Academic Council & Graduate Academic Council on curriculum reviews and program changes to ensure compliance with WASC standards

  • Provides guidance and support to Assessment Committee and other faculty committees as needed

  • Prepares content and update assessment and accreditation websites to comply with accreditation requirements, including annually updating each degree's learning outcomes assessment page, program reviews and general education assessment

  • Creates and oversees content on the Learning at Chapman website

  • Provide training and supervision to staff and student employees when necessary


Required Qualifications:



  • Master's degree with experience in leading processes and large scale institutional projects, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Experience and understanding of regional accreditation standards

  • Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong commitment to quality work product

  • Ability to navigate organizational infrastructure within a higher education settion; understanding the roles of shared governance, staff, faculty, and academic culture Interpersonal communication skills to be able to gain the respect of and effectively work with a diverse group of people inside and outside of the University

  • Excellent writing skills to independently draft clear, concise and grammatically correct documents

  • Ability to manage a budget, prepare contracts and payroll information for external reviewers and get necessary approvals using Chapman's financial enterprise system

  • Ability to see the big picture, analyze data and prepare detailed reports using charts and tables, demonstrating institutional progress and effectiveness in assessment and academic quality. Able to lead in the use of digital assessment software platforms, e.g. Nuventive

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and consistently conduct oneself in a tactful and diplomatic manner

  • Strong computer skills as an advanced user of word processing, spreadsheet, database, electronic mail and internet applications, especially Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience in developing and maintaining computer databases and websites

  • Technical skills to learn and use enterprise and job related systems and tools

  • Knowledge and understanding of learning outcomes, assessment and/or program review requirements in higher education and ability to learn and stay abreast of current best practices and national issues

  • Knowledge and understanding of accreditation planning and assessment methodologies and tools

  • Experience working in a higher education institution, preferably within academic affairs

  • Experience in event planning and coordination of event logistics
