Job Description:

The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for performing general maintenance work to maintain proper operation of Laundry and Boiler Room equipment. This work includes repairs and installation of electrical, oil, hydraulic, steam, water, and air systems needed, as well as proper preventative maintenance performance on all equipment.

This role will work a Monday - Friday 2pm-10pm schedule.

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

Understand and abides by policies, procedures, and programs. Typically works on projects and tasks that span 1 day - 3 months.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

1. Project and Change Management: Effectively plans and manages own work to reliably complete routine job responsibilities and special assignments. Follows through on learning, skill building, and practice necessary to adapt to change.
2. Problem Solving: General supervision, with work regularly reviewed by manager or senior coworker. Uses technical skills and knowledge to manage day-to-day tasks.
3. Technical Skill: Practical, working knowledge of tasks, responsibilities, policies and procedures. Able to learn and apply new concepts.
4. Community Engagement: Serves as an ambassador for Goodwill in the wider community. Participates in volunteer opportunities as schedule and interest permit.
5. Repairs and installs electrical, oil, hydraulic, steam, water, and air systems needed for the proper operation of the laundry and mechanical rooms.
6. Responsible for the proper preventative maintenance performance on all equipment to ensure proper operation of this equipment.
7. Read blueprints, manuals, schematics, and building codes to problem solve or install as necessary.
8. Maintains contact with all necessary vendors to assure to safe and proper operation of equipment.
9. Maintain inventory of all spare parts and tools to ensure their proper supply at all times. Report any deficiencies immediately.
10. Maintain adequate cleaning schedule of all machinery, maintenance shop, boiler room and other areas as needed.
11. Maintain a safe and orderly work environment and reports any safety concerns.
12. Responds in a timely manner to all staff machine requests.
13. Responsible for all other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Two years of college education or experience equivalency.
2. High pressure boiler license.

Lift: Raises objects from lower to higher position or moves objects horizontally. Climb: Moves up or down ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, ramps and the like. Stoop, kneel crouch or crawl: Positions self to retrieve objects. Reach: Extending upwards or downwards to retrieve objects. Worker is subject to weather conditions (hot, humid, dry, cold etc.). Worker is subject to excessive noise. Worker is subject to fumes, smoke or gases Worker is frequently is close quarters, crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms etc. Worker is subject to human blood, body fluids or tissue. Worker is subject to hazards: proximity to dangerous machinery, moving vehicles, electrical currents, chemicals, or high places. Gross and fine motor skills to work on facility projects, travel required.
