UTHealth Houston is looking for a Manager of Training and Development. This employee will serve in a lead role within the Organizational and Talent Development team. This employee plans, facilitates, and manages the e-learning, training and development initiatives on a university-wide basis. You will take requests from various departments when they require e-learning, and then schedule and manage these programs. You will also manage a staff of learning and development professionals such as an LMS administrator, instructional designers, and trainers or facilitators. You will also offer valuable input regarding systems and support to enhance our learning and development team's efforts. Vendor management will also be part of your duties.
This manager will have responsibilities around optimizing our LinkedIn Learning experience for our employees, and also spearhead a popular Management Development Academy course that the department offers. You should know training very well, and also be skilled at creating relationships and managing multiple tasks and projects. This employee will need strong program evaluation skills to help us know how effective we are at achieving the organization's performance goals.

It will be a hybrid position that can at times work remotely but may need to come into the office on occasion for programs, meetings and other matters.

Position Summary:
Plans, facilitates, and manages the e-learning, training and development initiatives on a university-wide basis.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Working with the Executive Director for Organizational and Talent Development, establishes e-learning and training strategy for the university.
2. Manages university-wide training programs including the flow, response to training requests, program development, implementation and program evaluation.
3. Periodically conducts needs analysis to understand the training and developmental needs of the institution while staying aligned with the university's goals and strategic plans. Develops and implements follow-up plans to address.
4. Collaborating with the training team and Subject Matter Experts designs and develops e-learning and training curriculum to support university business needs. Designs, develops, and facilitates e-learning and training modules to meet the current, as well as future, needs of the university.
5. Evaluates the short-term and long-term effectiveness of e-learning and training programs.
6. Helps design, develop, and facilitate university-wide initiatives to address recognition, performance evaluations, advancement, succession planning, etc.
7. Ensures the appropriate centralized retention of the institution's training documents.
8. Conducts periodic workforce analysis to identify trends to ensure needs, challenges or potential deficiencies are evaluated.
9. Scopes and recommends tools and technologies to advance and facilitate e-learning and learning management.
10. May manage Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
11. Other duties as assigned
Certification/Skills:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office
• Knowledge of E-Learning and LMS
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Training and Development, Adult Education/Education, Human Resources or related discipline.
Minimum Experience:
Five years of progressively responsible experience in training and development, instructional design, learning theory, training content development, facilitation and training evaluation. Experience with consulting, organizational development or organizational effectiveness or talent management is a plus. Must have at least two years' experience managing staff on projects or direct reports.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
