Job Description:

Who you are: You enjoy working outdoors and are curious to explore how different natural systems interact. You have some experience conducting wildlife surveys or monitoring and are looking to grow your knowledge and skills. You have your Bachelors' degree in fisheries, wildlife science, or another natural resource field and have either recently graduated or have been working for a few years.

What the job is: The Fish & Wildlife Biologist (I, II & III) is a new role within the company and will work directly with the Senior Conversation Biologist. This role will assist in the implementation and analysis of monitoring and research projects designed to assess the effectiveness of management prescriptions used across the Company's 312,000 acres of working forests located in and around Shelton, WA.

Here are some examples of the work this role will do:

Conduct harvest unit evaluation which may include geomorphic classification of channels, identification of unstable slopes, identification of riparian forest function and stream interactions, the capture and identification of native fish, amphibian, and wildlife species, and delineation of wetland types.
Assist in delineation and marking of harvest unit and riparian and sensitive area cutting boundaries.
Advise on sensitive fish and wildlife habitat and water quality issues for timber harvesting and road building activities to ensure operational compliance with conservation agreements.
Assist with research and monitoring projects. Studies include ownership wide natural resource field studies that provide information to be used in determining effectiveness of Habitat Conservation Plan prescriptions and in adaptive management discussions with regulatory agencies.
Establish and maintain professional credibility with the scientific and regulatory communities.
Utilize maps, aerial photographs, GPS, and GIS to navigate and record spatial information.
Enter field data in hand-held data collection devices and in a variety of computer databases.

This role has three tiers:

Fish & Wildlife Biologist I - Typically has 1 -2 years of working experience
Fish & Wildlife Biologist II - Typically has 3 -5 years of working experience
Fish & Wildlife Biologist III - Typically has 5+ years of working experience

Compensation Details:

Fish & Wildlife Biologist I: $20.84 - $31.26
Fish & Wildlife Biologist II: $25.42 - $38.13
Fish & Wildlife Biologist III: $28.98 - $43.47

The pay range listed is just one component of Green Diamond's total compensation package.
