Job Description:

Micro-Poise Measurement Systems, a business unit of AMETEK, is a leading OEM supplier of capital test machinery to the worldwide automotive and tire industries located in Streetsboro, Ohio. Micro-Poise is currently seeking an Assembler -Welder.

As an assembler, the expectation is to be an experienced mechanic, who is capable of assembling quality subassemblies and machines based on blueprints, proper use of scales, wrenches, clamps, files, chisels, portable electric drills, tapping tools, portable grinders, buffers as well as micrometers, squares and similar metrology tools.

As a welder, this position requires experience in manufacturing metal parts, taking particular care to produce clean-high quality welds, following blueprints, determining material measurements, and taking responsibility for fabricating parts used in later assembly processes. Responsible for the quality of welded parts within specifications/tolerance

Responsibilities:


  • Work from mechanical drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions to produce parts and assemblies to meet specifications
  • Layout work, fabricate parts, and drill and tap parts for assemblies
  • Ensure proper quality by following work instructions, pictures, and/or videos
  • Produce subassemblies and assemble full machine at required quality levels
  • Report quality issues, including rework and scrap, filling the proper documents as defined by the quality department
  • Participate in in-process quality audits and fill out reports as defined by the quality department
  • Use alignment devices for proper machine assembly and log measurements
  • Weld small and medium size machine components based on blueprints
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Use MIG and TIG welders
  • Assess welded surfaces and identify welding errors
  • Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such and wearing proper PPE, including welding helmets, heat-resistant gloves, eye and hearing protection, safety shoes, and other PPE as required
  • Monitor welders for appropriate usage and temperature control
  • Maintain and repair welders as appropriate
  • Assist in machine check out, machine dis-assembly and shipping activities as required by supervisors or managers

Job requirements and qualifications:

  • High school diploma, associate's degree in manufacturing, or equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in machine assembly
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a welder
  • A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred
  • Experience working with computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience working with AUTOCAD software is desired
  • Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs.
  • Outstanding attention to detail
