As a key member of the indirect procurement leadership team, this position will lead the technical and clinical sourcing pillar, The pillar includes all Facilities as well as non-IT technical categories like Capital equipment, Lab equipment, Construction and related services, Maintenance and Calibration services, Design and engineering services and other similar spends typically made by engineers and scientists.

Role includes category management, contract negotiations, contract execution, strategic supplier relationship management, oversees spend analysis/management activities, change/transition management and team member development.

The AD demonstrates teamwork and commitment to the overall success of Illumina. The AD is a recognized leader and subject matter expert that influences key business decisions and demonstrates our corporate values and commitment to high performance and talent development.

The role contributes to the broader Technical category sourcing strategy that will drive the organization's ability to leverage the company's total spend by partnering with business leaders to deliver incremental value and reduce the total cost of ownership.

Responsibilities:


  • Identify Company's existing and emerging needs for the Facilities, Construction, technical purchases including R&D , capital equipment, Maintenance, Calibration etc. and applying industry leading Category management, sourcing and service delivery practices.

  • Providing category insight, expertise, and education to maximize value of sourced solutions

  • Stakeholder collaboration to align to category strategic roadmap and sourcing strategies


  • Developing and leveraging supplier relationships; identifying vendors to meet the needs of the business, while minimizing costs and maximizing value.

  • Develop and implement sourcing and supplier strategies to align with Illumina's 3 - 5 year roadmap.

  • The strategic direction, insight and approach to manage supplier relationships and procuring goods and services to meet Illumina's business goals.

  • Seek and leverage external perspective (technology, industry, sourcing best practices, peer group, macro and socio economics) relevant to Illumina's business needs

  • Seek and align with Internal perspective (business goals and legal/regulatory considerations) in all aspects of our operations and strategy.

  • Inspire the organization to deliver the strategic sourcing objectives and supporting goals.

  • Develop and attract the people required to develop & execute sourcing strategies.

  • Develop and drive the use of appropriate sourcing and service delivery standards and ensures execution consistent with them.

  • Lead negotiations in partnership with business leaders, on price, delivery, and service

  • Partner with stakeholders and leaders to create and execute on framework for QBRs as well as for managing entire life cycle of Contracts. Including but not limited to: Preparing RFP's, negotiating T&Cs of Master Service Agreements, Construction contracts, Statements of Work, including services to be provided, functionalities to be delivered, timetable and milestones for payment.

  • Partner with legal and other stakeholders to negotiate contracts and resolve contract disputes.

  • Establish clear organizational expectations related to Illumina values, business ethics and the law, and financial controls.

  • Ensure appropriate audit trails are embedded in processes, for internal audit and performance management processes.

  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

  • Drives the analysis of data, including financial and performance metrics to support decisions

  • Create teamwork across functions and business groups to maximize the performance of Illumina and the development of people.

  • Develop and deliver presentations to executives and others, as required on strategies and programs.

Requirements:


  • A minimum of 15 years' relevant experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, STEM.

  • Masters degree preferred

  • 5+ years' of hands on experience with Construction contracts

  • Hands on experience in facilities, capital equipment, lab equipment, maintenance, calibration and other scientific purchases.

  • 5+ years' of recent experience leading teams and developing talent is required

  • Experience l everaging changing industry delivery models

The estimated base salary range for the Associate Director Strategic Sourcing, Indirect, Facilities & Technical Category role based in the United States of America is: $138,700 - $208,100. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
