Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. This job will make budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function and develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Assignments tend to be of moderate complexity, diversification or expense. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and process to meet goals outlined. Normally receives instructions on new projects or assignments.

Detailed Description:


  • Ensure that departments within the organization reach production goals within budget and a high level of quality.

  • Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools and human resource requirements.

  • Determines work schedules and overtime, allocation of resources and which machines will run and resolves problems as they occur.

  • Looks for new ways to improve the efficiency of production lines.

  • Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.

  • Prepares production reports.

  • Works with purchasing to improve the quality of materials from suppliers.

  • Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.

  • Direct / develop staff through training & performance goals to achieve quality, OTD, throughput targets and lead-times at a level to support business plans.

  • Provide targets and expectations to the team.

  • Provide daily feedback. They should know exactly how they are doing.

  • Be involved in daily activities / follow-up in the Line and Cable Plant.

  • Inspect product in-process; pick up product in the Line / Cable Plant.

  • Minimize manufacturing costs, optimize workflow and maintain highest quality by Leading Process Design & Control throughout the Cells and Cable Plant every day.

  • Track / post progress daily in each of the Line.

  • Throughput, pieces built daily.

  • Sales dollars built daily.

  • Defect tracking daily. Pareto analysis of defects monthly.

  • Share the progress with the cells.

  • Develop improvement plans where targets are missed, or quality is not met.

  • Develop / implement corrective actions related to manufacturing activities.

  • Develop / implement recovery plans when shipment schedules are compromised.

Requirements:


  • BA or BS Degree in associated field is preferred.

  • Must have 5+ years supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Must be familiar with production measures such as On-Time delivery, labor rates, and Quality audits.

  • Must be familiar with various measuring equipment: caliper, micrometer, height scale, gage pin sets and ruler etc.

  • Must have general computer knowledge including Excel, Word, and MRPII

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
